popping into this thread without looking at anything because i'm not done yet just to say the xmas and Richie episodes were incredible
Just finished this season. My immediate impression is that I think I actually liked it more than s1. Just incredible stuff
Just finished season 2. I feel like it had some good episodes, but also some not so good. Episode 6 was tough to watch. It was a bit overhyped too. Season Finale was a tad underwhelming. Favorite character this season was definitely Cousin. Ritchie really turning into a decent person. Enjoyed his episode the most. Frek has always been fun too. I feel like Carmy and Sydney didn't have great plot lines this season. More so Sydney.
Thanks man. Didn't realize I wasn't able to voice an opinion like everyone else. I'm not sitting here trying to force people to hate shows, just giving my reaction. Didn't say this season was bad, just had some hits and misses for me.
Finished last night. I think I preferred season 1 a little bit, but this is still my favorite/best recent or current show going right now. On the 1 vs 2 front, part of what made season 1 so narratively satisfying was watching things come together as the staff worked together and began to trust each other. So to essentially separate Carmy from the team for the whole season lost some of the magic from s1 for me, particularly in comparison to how the working relationship with him and Sydney developed last season. The under the table scene was an amazing moment of payoff there. That said, it made a ton of sense narratively, and I imagine it will feel less jarring in hindsight after we get another season to complete(?) Carmy’s arc. The Richie episode was absolute magic. He was the most impressively drawn character by the end of season 1 imo and he completely stole this season for me. I’m a sucker for the side character who’s kind of the emotional core of the show thing (Peggy in Mad Men as the hall of fame example) and as great as Sydney and Marcus and Tina and Sug are, it’s such Richie here. The Pequod’s scene, the Chef Terry convo, the cut to Love Story, fuck. Perfect TV. Finale: a well earned but surprising downer ending. Lol at the Faks calling out that it was Empire Strikes Back. I avoided spoilers for the season completely, but had seen a headline about season 2 of the show “leaning into optimism” and it was brutal and unexpected watching Carmy fuck up so much so quickly. But kind of a perfect ending that everyone had grown so much from the specific experiences he delegated them to and yet he couldn’t (literally nor figuratively) see what he had accomplished and spirals because of it. Side shout out for the Can’t Hardly Wait drop at the end of episode 5 w the cut right on the stop and the credits rolling on the vocals coming back in, perfectly done.
Wow. This show is one of the best I've seen in awhile. So many great moments whether funny or sad. As great as episode 6 was, I think 7 was my favorite. Olivia Colman was absolute gem in her small role.
I just read 10 pages of comments on Season 2 and none of y'all motherfuckers mentioned THE CHRISTMAS SONG by WEEZER to end episode 6???? Shame on each and every one of you.
Sorry I was too shocked over Jamie Lee Curtis driving her car into the living room to think about weezer at the time
