Hoo boy. This is basically everything I do not want to be seeing in film summed up in one trailer. Except for Snoop of course. Jonah is baffling in the few seconds shown there, seriously what is going on with that voice.
Harmony Korine deserves the benefit of the doubt until the credits roll, but it feels like he is chasing the success he saw in Spring Breakers. It just looks too big for his style to be allowed to come through, but perhaps the success of Spring Breakers gives him that leeway.
Yeah the glaucoma bit and the parrot were misses for me. Hopefully it's just the studio attempting to make something coherent out of whatever beautiful mess this will be
Watched this yesterday and its....yep its pretty much exactly what it looks like. Wacky party comedy/character piece, with lots of very funny supporting characters along the way. Its a lot less angry and focused than spring breakers but does share that similar style of shooting and meandering quality. The turns in here by Jonah Hill, Martin Lawrence and Zefron were TREMENDOUS.
They're doing a Q&A with Harmony and most of the cast Sunday morning at South By and it's streaming to a bunch of Alamo Drafthouse locations along with a screening of the movie. I'm seriously considering going, but not sure If I want to pay for this when I could just wait a couple weeks and watch it with A-List.
this is the most Matthew McConaughey role ever and Snoop was also pretty much playing himself in the best way possible Isla was having so much fun she should be in more things it was def misogynistic, I don't think I've ever seen a movie with more nameless topless women haha Zac Efron vaping and broing out to Creed and Martin Lawrence killed me, "only 4 people have died in my 8 years of doing dolphin tours which is a great record"
i feel like this movie got like, next to no push, i barely saw any advertising for it and it got a weird soft release so
Has any "mainstream" (feels weird to apply to Korine, but it stands) comedy ever been shot with such beauty?
Theatres only buts it’s a pretty wide release. It’s doing really poorly at the box office though, which sometimes translates to a quick turnover from cinema to VOD.
I had no idea this was even out last week but it is playing in my area. Sounds like I better catch it quick.
