I hated Batman vs Superman so all of the flip flops for this new one is just making me realize they most likely won't redeem themselves. Just leave Batman to Christopher Nolan.
There are lots of great directors out there. Why is Matt Reeves the only one people care about? I can think of quite a few directors that would do a great job with this.
All I want out of this film is great action. Now that we have the best onscreen look for Batman by far, put him in a really cool long-take action sequence with Deathstroke. If I can get a bunch of visceral, semi-grounded fight scenes out of this film, whether it ends up being fantastic or a hot mess, I'll dig it.
I like Leto more than most people seem to and even I thought his Joker was the worst part of that awful movie.
Everything is too advertised. Every little thing that could be normal happenings for the industry is in the spotlight and people are overreacting. I'd honestly rather things be silent until things are ready to be announced.
That's 'cause we comic fans are an obsessive bunch. Superhero film gossip is such an easy business, with lots to mine and countless nerds excited to gobble up any information and either gush or rant with beautiful hyperbole towards either extreme in response. It's ridiculous, but it's not surprising.
Because Reeves really is a GREAT director, and the fact that the project lost such a great director so easily (you could also make the same argument with Affleck) just spells doomsday. I personally was so excited for this because I loved BvS and love Batfleck but the future is looking dark for this movie/DCEU
i was trying to think of another word, couldn't, and even initially capitalized 'doomsday' in my post :/
There's lots of great directors out there though. (I'm also not as enamored with Reeves as everyone else I think.)
Yeah, he doesn't even have a lot of great movies under his belt. Only one really great one, but given how Apes 3 looks it could be two very soon.
actually he has 2, and if Apes 3 is good that'll change to three sincerely, the world's biggest cloverfield fan
Reeves is good. There are a great many capable directors outside of him. It's slightly worrying that Affleck stepped down and talks with Reeves couldn't work out, particularly if combined with the rumors that Affleck wants out altogether, but those are just rumors. Until a director is attached though there's not a whole lot of cause for speculation or worry or celebration or anything. The movie is so far away anyway. It's a little crazy how much is being talked about a movie that's so far from being made.
I think its because its part of a shared universe. If it were stand alone I don't think I'd care/worry at all, but it has so much already going for it that seems to be wasted. It was set up to already have the best version of Batman with an incredible cast (Affleck, Irons, Simmons), the test footage for Deathstroke looked awesome and the opportunity to have pre established characters like Deadshot, Waller and Joker pop in to flesh out the world. It just feels like such an incredible waste to me.
This is true. The script that Affleck and Johns were doing was apparently rewritten by Chris Terrio, so it's still possible that all I listed about was scrapped. Or maybe its not. I also think since JL2 was scrapped and Ben wants out as Batman, this movie may never happen all together.
