Yeah, the full quote is "I wanted to get into the mindset of the character, and I wanted to think of the psychology," he explained. "For me, I think one of the cool deep dive ones was Ego. He's confronting the beast that is Batman and it's that kind of duality. There's a lot in what it's trying to do in the story about him confronting the shadow side of himself and the degree to which you have self knowledge." "You're able to understand his motivations, but Batman [is broken] and why he's doing all of these things for the reasons that he thinks is right and that have a heroic sort of grounding in them," Reeves continued. "There's also many things that are driven by the parts of himself he doesn't yet know, and so I would say that that kind of sort of psychological union, that sort of version is very much connected to the vision from Darwyn Cooke's Ego."
Yeah outside of the Bane/Batman fight, they were all pretty slow. Even that one was, but the no music and everything made it work
Wow. Don’t know if he’s a deep Batman fan, good at doing his homework, or both (I’m gonna guess both), but regardless. Name dropping Darwyn Cooke, instead of just, like, the same boring ol’ obvious Frank Miller & whatnot? That’s great. Not that Ego is my favorite Batman or my favorite Cooke, but I love the care that looking there shows. Didn’t think I could be even more excited, but here we are. This will be my favorite movie Batman.
His currently Strange Adventures run is quite good. I haven’t read Mister Miracle yet though. honestly though the recent Suicide Squad has the best Batman inclusion I’ve read in a long while. What a fun issue.
Anything is possible, but I feel like it has that Dark Knight vibe where during production you can tell it’ll be something special.
The trailer was good but I'm still weary about so many characters. It has to introduce this Bruce, Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler and Gordon.
The movie will probably two and a half hours long. I’m not worried about a bunch of characters. Who knows how much screen time they’ll even get. There setting up a trilogy and we know there’s going to be a rogues gallery of villains. I’m really curious about other villains they haven’t announced, or maybe they’ll just keep them as a surprise.
Even casual Batman fans are pretty familiar with at least 3 of those characters anyway, it's not like we need a half hour backstory on each of them. Batman's already established in this series, so no origin/training segment. I think it's gona hit the ground running.
Pumped that we’re getting 1) a younger, wilder Batman and 2) more of a detective noir style. Love the Nolan films but IMO all three absolutely collapse on themselves plotwise in the final act when the crime drama vibe gives way to convoluted, manufactured action movie stakes (they released the crazy gas!; bombs on the ferry!; nuclear bomb on a string!). Of course this movie also could end up with some “all of Gotham is at risk” endgame but everything I’ve seen has made me really hopeful that we’re getting more psychological twists and turns instead of “turns out the bad guy’s gonna blow up the whole city” twists and turns.
I honestly hope there’s a Batfleck and Patman team up if they do Flashpoint to try make sense of their multiverse.
Yeah let’s hopefully try and keep anything touched by Snyder (and Phillips too for that matter) way the hell away from this.
I'd be fine with the Joker or Bane not being in the trilogy tbh. I wouldn't mind seeing Reeves' take on Scarecrow, though.
