I hate how they thought a shared universe meant shared all the time. Each character's own films don't need to have cameos, overarching themes, etc. It just makes it easier to handle all the characters if we know who they are and where theyve come from when they DO come together.
I think the idea of like an event mini series in film with full crossovers of characters could be really awesome, if that's what you set out to do. I think Snyder had an idea for say like a 5 film series and then that's it. but on top of that WB wanted to build their own MCU style. that's two vastly different approaches. I personally am happier right now to have just the focus be on characters individual films. get great directors to come in and make their vision. get weird with it, whatever.
I liked the idea of characters randomly showing up, like Batman in Suicide Squad and Falcon in the first Ant Man, but I get how if it's not done right how it can get weird.
Some rumored names 'leaked' -- take with a grain of salt. Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Godzilla) Alexander Ludwig (Vikings, The Hunger Games) Jack O’Connell (Godless) Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Midsommar) Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Dark Phoenix)
Outside of Nocturnal Animals, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a fuckin' snooze. Dude has the charisma of a plastic bag filled with milk. I don't know Jack Reynor, but that list is very underwhelming
You need to go watch Sing Street tonight. You should not watch another movie until you've seen that one.
I'd rather have Jake Gyllenhaal, Armie Hammer, or even Robert Pattinson than anyone on that list. I'm not too worried about the casting though because I'm sure whoever they pick will be good. I'm just excited for a new Batman movie.
I will say this, that list looks a lot better to me if they're actually trying to cast Dick Grayson in a movie where he takes on the mantle of Batman.
Guess RPatt is out for sure with the announcement that he is doing the new Nolan movie. I was actually really warming up to the idea of him as Bruce.
yeah he was my favorite of the rumored to be honest. though I still like Armie Hammer or Oscar Isaac even though both are probably out of the current age range they are supposedly looking at
