i think 31 is the perfect age to be casting. gotta remember he’ll be 33-34 by the time the thing releases.
How has Trevante Rhodes been in non-Moonlight roles? He’s such a physically impressive screen presence.
Daniel Kaluuya is closer to the age range I think they’re going for and is one of the best actors in the world but he’s a little guy, not sure if he’s right.
Boy Meets World but Batman Shawn as Batman (more of the Batman type than Cory) Cory as Robin Topanga as Batgirl Angela as Catwoman Eric as the Joker Mr Feeny as Alfred Jonathan Turner as Commisiomer Gordon Minkus as the Riddler Harley Kiner as Kingpin Frankie Stacino as Penguin or Bane Joey the Rat as Scarecrow Jack Hunter as Two-Face Rachel as Poison Ivy Bat Meets World (It is crazy how perfect those roles fit)
whoever becomes Batman I just really want to see us get to a point where I can truly see the Batfam on screen. give him Nightwing, Batgirl, Tim Drake as Robin. Batman Inc!
An argument by Marc Bernardin actually convinced me that Bruce Wayne should probably be white (if you want to adapt the character "right"). The Wayne family represents a very specific type of American old money that, due to American history, belonged to white families. You could get away with making Bruce biracial or adopted, which would in a way remain true to that element of the character while adding a compelling new wrinkle. But, unlike most white superheroes (Peter Parker comes to mind), race bending does change the character. Now, I'd still love to see a black Batman. But, I wouldn't call him Bruce. You could call him Dick, or Terry, or Duke, or create a character from scratch. Or, 'cause the multiverse exists, you COULD make Bruce black, and then actually deal with how that changes the character. But, I wouldn't want a black Bruce that didn't acknowledge the difference in a dumb "I don't see race" kinda way. (On the flip side, when we get the next non-Cavill Superman, I think he HAS to be non-white. Someone of Mexican or Palestinian heritage probably makes the most sense. Anti-semitism obviously still exists, as that Pittsburgh shooting showed, but unless you set the film in 1938, the immigrant analogy doesn't play the same way 81 years later. Just like how X-Men rosters that try to address race while being mostly white don't work.)
Now if we ever got Batman Inc on the big screen, it'd HAVE to feature Dick as Batman instead of Nightwing, fighting alongside Bruce Batman. That was the best part of Batman Inc imo.
He hasn't really been great in what I've seen from him tbh. Like you said great screen presence, incredibly handsome, but not a great actor, at least at this point imo Phenomenal in Moonlight though ofc
I mean that was definitely great, and I love the run of him as Batman with Damian as Robin, their relationship together was fantastic. so I definitely wouldn't be mad haha. but i need me a live action Nightwing with Batman and Tim Drake as Robin first. that's the stuff of dreams for me haha edit: i just saw Batman Inc is coming to DCU, stoked to reread that
Fair enough, lol. Comic book movies are chronically incapable of being truly standalone, so we can get that Bat Family film where Dick is Nightwing first, and then work towards recreating these moments:
If we could get to a point where we could see my favorite Tim Drake in the Red Robin outfit, that'd be amazing.
Saw someone say Idris Elba on the last page. Much like with Bond, he's too old for what the franchise needs right now, imo. I'm all for a Bond of color or a Batman of color, but it has to be someone young that can carry the franchise for a few films over the course of like 10 years or so. The ~31 range I saw brought up on the last page sounds right to me.
I always thought Oscar Isaac would make a great Bruce/Batman but he's too old for what they're going for too
I actually usually hear the opposite sentiment: People were happy when Rebirth gave Red Robin a more traditional Robin look, and then happier when Bendis' Young Justice abandoned the "Red Robin" name. I imagine that has a lot to do with the age that someone was when they got into the character. I personally would be cool with either, though I have for years wanted a good Batman movie that made a semi-traditional Robin work. And then pair him up with Jack Black as Green Lantern.
