Does this have to do with the movie, though? I mean, wouldn't it just have to do with when you saw the movie? Or do you need to eat every three hours?
I never understood that complaint. Like are people really pissing every hour? Am I severely dehydrated all the time? but yeah theaters suck, put all the shit on my TV
First off yes I dont think I could go more than 2 hours without pissing lol But not just that, I'm way too restless a person to just sit still for that long.
Apparently the average human urinates 6-7 times a day? I'm now low level worried about my pissing habits.
I pee probably every 2 hours or so, but I've never had an issue where I had to get up to go in the theater. That said, watching movies at home is still WAY preferable to me
Having to pee during Everything Everywhere All at Once was the worst, I was gone for like 2 minutes and the whole movie changed
I did it twice with basically no effort. I go pee during a trailer, usually the 3rd one unless I’ve never seen it, then I’ll go on the next one. I always bring a bottle of water but I don’t start drinking it any earlier than the last hour of the movie. I’ve never had an issue of needing to go during a movie this way. with that said, there are legitimate reasons for people to prefer watching movies at home. I do think movies like Ambulance and jackass forever are more enjoyable in theaters. One for a bigger screen to see all the chaos in great clear wide shots with super loud speakers and the other for being with others laughing together. But movies like Nightmare Alley and Death on the Nile don’t really need the theater experience, in my opinion. obviously there’s a lot of movies you could use as examples for either side. I just pulled from my list of movies I saw in theater in the past 5 months or so.
I’m a regular Nicole Kidman - I unabashedly love the theatrical experience. IMAX and Dolby enhance movies made for those formats. Comedies are better with a great crowd. Comic book movies are mostly not because you have a pack of hooting assholes that can’t shut up. That said, of the hundreds of movies I’ve seen in a theater, only had a handful of bad experiences. And bathroom breaks have never been a problem. But I also understand that I’m built different and my bloodline consists of a strong lineage of movie watchers with ironclad bladders. We pray for the weak.
"We Make Movies Better" I'm hooting and hollering every time I see that Kidman ad opening night for a big movie. My 5 favorite films of this year thus far: (Everything Everywhere All At Once, RRR, Ambulance, Jackass Forever and The Batman) all were amazing theatrical experiences and had me thinking of the power of cinema throughout their runtimes. Turning Red I have in 6th place... but maybe if I saw that one in theaters it would be higher in my early year rankings
I have diabetes so I pee like every 20 minutes. Watching this movie was so hard at the theater. I did run to the bathroom when Batman was at the police station
For a movie I care about, if I have a choice in the matter, I will always choose watching it in a theater vs at home. Love that theater experience. (Preferably in a context where I can put my feet up.) Idk, it's just a lot more conducive to me really experiencing the whole movie than a home setting.
I dumped too much money into my tv and speakers and I think that’s really changed how I feel about going to the theater. If I can sit on my couch and look at a really nice screen with some oomph in the sound, I’ll take that any day. Except for something like Jackass. Those are all amazing in a theater setting.
People yamming, looking at their phones, little white squares sprouting in front of me, people getting up every five minutes, making bad jokes, farting and belching, kicking my seat or putting their feet next to my face, and constantly checking when someone comes in the door cause I’m worried some idiot with a gun is gonna walk in is my “theater experience” — haaaaaaaaard pass. I’m so over it.
I guess we just have very different theater experiences! The two main theaters I go to are just a couple random Cinemark locations, and it's rare for the actual showing to have enough egregious behavior to take me out of the movie. The last I remember was being stuck in a smaller room for Licorice Pizza next to a random woman who was a verbal processor to an awkward extent, lol, and it still wasn't enough to kill the movie's vibes; it ended up I think my second favorite of last year. (With the gun thing... I dunno. I guess my context is different, and how my brain works is also different, so I don't personally experience movie theaters as a higher risk place for that than other places. But I get it.)
I totally pay attention to who comes and goes and if someone comes in new I do check it out and make sure it’s not a shooter or some wacko. Since my screenings generally only draw 10-20 people it seems unlikely a shooter would choose my theater. But it’s absolutely something I think about.
I think i'm pretty blessed with my experiences. Then again I live in a major city with a great film culture
As an Australian, the concept of anyone entering a cinema with a gun (or any public venue with a gun) is extremely wild to me and I'm sorry you guys have to even think about that sort of stuff.
