Rewatched the end today and the tone is just so weird. After Batman gets shot, Selina tearfully comforts him as he’s fading and tells him it’s over as if he’s dying. Then after he injects himself, he jumps on that wire to cut it and it’s played off like he’s sacrificing himself to save everyone but he just falls into water and pops out totally fine. Just feels really odd

 

She’s comforting him and saying that because she believes it’s over. The last goon was just defeated in her eyes. It’s over. Everyone is safe. I mean, she was wrong. But what she said made sense.

but yea, I do agree making the cutting of the wire some like slow focused shot to just fall into water was a little weird.

 

my impression was not that he was dying, just that he was knocked out and then venom was like a jolt of energy

 

yeah I understand why she said it’s over, but it’s said in a way like “you can let go, you don’t have to fight anymore” I don’t know, it felt weird on my first watch and reallly weird on the rewatch. Like they really wanted us to think he would actually die

 

I mean, I just disagree. That’s not how the scene plays. I do not think there was any intention in that moment of him possibly dying.

I know you can’t help how you react, but you’re interpretation is wrong.

 

My cousin’s 6 year old daughter is obsessed with Light Years.

For what it's worth, I got that same feeling too from that wire-cutting scene, even though I knew that wasn't what was happening. It was a little confusing though.

 

I do love how much of the discussion around this movie is “this Batman definitely has never fucked”

 

Where is all this discussion? I think this is the first time I’ve seen it anywhere.

 

I forgot about it because the stuff around it was good, but I think I agree with @I Am Mick that the flow of that sequence was a bit awkward. Doesn’t help that the venom or whatever came a bit out of nowhere. It didn’t take me out of the movie, but it probably could’ve been streamlined a little.

 

This Batman DOESNT fuck

 

Finally saw this and I loved it. Favorite blockbuster in a loooong time.

I work at a movie theater and most of my coworkers were pretty mid on it, but they’re all huge MCU fans. One of them said her big complaint was that The Batman narrates everything. Now that I’ve seen it, I’m fully convinced she didn’t watch it lol

 

Maybe she fell asleep for like 2 hours?

 

I loved narrations bits. Felt like a comic book.

 

Yea, I thought they were used very effectively.

 

Feels like this is a movie that’s better on second rewatch, especially because of the history of other film version of Batman plays on your expectations a bit

Really really enjoy this, can’t wait to see again
