The rafter fight was the standout fight for me. Would have been a shame to lose that. And the moment where the son trusts Batman to help him. Perfect little moment. Giving a chance for Selina to make a choice between running away or go to help Batman. This event ends up being the catalyst that has the city begin to trust Batman. That moment where he Carries the girl to the stretcher and she won’t let go of him. It’s a stark contrast to the guy on the subway who is saved by Batman but is still afraid and tells him to not hurt him. Cutting that out to get a shorter runtime would have been a mistake.
Gordon reminded me of Solid Snake, looking at something and repeating what it is in question form "METAL GEAR!?" "RIDDLER!?" "MAZE!?"
Bruce helped him at the funeral. Batman helps him at the stadium. Batman feels connected to him for obvious reasons. The kid is young and more open to getting help from someone like Batman vs the adults being hardened to it. It’s a small little moment of positivity in a 3 hour movie that’s the opposite of that for almost all of the rest of it. A big eye roll is an over reaction.
I mean, is Gordon supposed to be some smart dude? To me he’s always been about integrity and ensuring what’s right is done.
Yeah, even if it was on the nose, I don't think it's any better or worse than what Batman did in the Nolan universe with young Game of Thrones child or Gordon comforting young Bruce after his parents died.
I didn't take him as dumb. I think he's the audience surrogate, so he has to ask some obvious questions. It didn't bother me, I just thought it was funny.
My rankings for some of the repeat characters portrayals overall: Batman: 1 Bruce Wayne: 2 Alfred: 3 Riddler: 1 Selina/CW: 2 Gordon: 2 Falcone: 1 Penguin: 1
it would have been much different as a post credits scene and I completely agree that it threw off the vibe. Especially the obvious clown line.
I wonder how much the Penguin and Arkham HBO Max shows will play into all of this and if The Joker will be involved with those.
Today at 2:05 PM unsure if you're a supporter, but my reply to jared (tl;dr probably not gonna go into a theatre for a while)
This absolutely felt like 3 hours and 20-30 should have been cut. I also think I’m just over the super super serious tone. overall I did enjoy it though. R Patz rules.
