Alfred tells Bruce that his father didn't ask Falcone to kill the reporter, just to threaten him, and, when he found out what had happened, told Falcone he was going to the police to confess. He and Martha were killed later that night. Alfred said he didn't know for sure Falcone was responsible, that he tried to figure it out for sure, but never came up with a definitive answer.
This might be seen as a wild take, but I don’t think this iteration of Batman/Wayne needed Alfred at all. With all the revised lore happening anyway, it might have been better off that he wasn’t in this. Maybe even they are estranged and he appears in a later sequel.
I’m not sure the execution was perfect but it was needed to show that Bruce still fears losing people he loves
Alfred was essential to this story. He’s not in it too much because part of the point is that Bruce is neglecting him for his crusade, but he’s in it enough to get the point across. There’s a clear arc in their relationship that ties into the Wayne family backstory, Falcone, Selina, and the orphan Riddler.
As for sequels… I feel very strongly, especially after watching this film, that if this is a trilogy, the third film has to be about Robin. That’s the perfect closure to this iteration of Batman’s story. Maybe Court of Owls in the second film?
I just loved seeing a bruce wayne that isnt a billionaire playboy like tony stark. Really really loved this version.
Yeah I would like to see him slowly transform into the more philanthropic billionaire over the course of the series
it was refreshing. I think it would have been nice to see him have a little more time on the business side of the Wayne Enterprise. Him being in the suit for most of the movie was awesome though.
I can see how Court of Owls would fit in this world, but I feel like it wouldn’t really add anything that new to it. This movie drove home hard how corrupt the city is. Would another group of corrupt people really be surprising or interesting at this point? I don’t think so.
Yeah I kind of agree with this. If they were going to do Court of Owls, this would have been the time to do it. Instead all of the corruption ran through Falcone. I guess they could reveal that the Court was actually controlling Falcone the whole time too without his knowledge but idk how I'd feel about that. I think the power vacuum angle is the right way to go for the sequel.
I get having Joker fatigue but if there's any combo of people I have faith in to do something new and interesting with him it's Reeves and Keoghan. It's definitely not going to be utter garbage like Leto's or in a horrible movie with a horrible script like Phoenix's.
It’s a shame to not utilize villains that have yet to be used for films. As much as I love the joker, it is feeling like the well is drying up on that front. The Arkham scene in this reminded me of “Gotham” which isn’t the direction this should go in.
I found a prime showing at 3 pm with the whole theater available so I’m hyped for today. I figured I have to wait longer to see it.
