yes yes yes. I really like what titans is doing, but goddammit I want to see the Batfam on the big screen.

Who the hell thought that Batman Returns was an appropriate movie to be marketed to children? I remember wearing an adult size Batman Returns shirt (I think it had Batman/Penguin/Catwoman) when I was 3 or 4 years old. I think my older sister had won it from some candy giveaway promotion.

 

Wow I remember this so vividly haha

Ate up every tie in with these films

 

This question of course being what led to the Schumacher films being what they were, lol.

Though in his defense, I became convinced earlier this year that a Schumacher Batman w/out the pressure of the Returns backlash would’ve been dope. Basically just a more neon version of what ruled about Burton Batman. The Thurman Ivy is every bit as awesome as the Pfeiffer Catwoman; she’s just stuck in a film where studio & market demands got in the way of the unique voice.

 

Hated Ivy, but I don’t think it’s Thurman’s fault. There was a clear decision to make Forever and B&R as toy-friendly as possible. I believe the toy makers even had some say in the script/props.

 

She was genuinely, 100% fabulous, & her scenes bring me so much sincere joy. Such a delightfully camp performance, cut from the same cloth as Hela & the Burton Catwoman. I love her big drag queen energy.

If only the rest of the film had operated on Thurman’s level. If it had, even w/ the shoehorned toy stuff, it’d be a cult gem today instead of an infamous failure.

 

THE BATMAN Casts Newcomer Jayme Lawson In A Key Mystery Role - Could She Be BATGIRL?

 

Introduce her as a younger kid, but I don't think throwing in anything besides her possibly being Jim's daughter is a good idea this early.

 

Over a 3 film it works

 

Chances we see a joker in this trilogy?

Wait, I just realized that, in the same calendar year, Serkis is gonna spend time both directing a live action Venom & playing a live action Alfred. Wild.

I think he'll do a good job in the role.

 

I can't imagine being anything less than stoked about Serkis being in anything. He's a super interesting choice for Alfred, love everything they've done with the casting here so far.

 

hmmm no I think they should have just cast another old british man and been done with it.

 

I’m pretty sure Serkis is all of those things anyway, so...
