The longer the Abrams movie gets pushed back, the farther away he gets from Rise of Skywalker and the possibility that mind-wiping tech might be available by then to make people forget it.

 

Tbf I think a lot of it was seemingly due to personal issues Reeves was dealing with but now that the script is done and the movie is cast what are we doing here
