Yes, stop everything you are doing and turn on In Bruges...NOW

In Bruge is easily top 5 movie for me, it's such a good time (even though it's dark as fuck)

Seeing In Bruges in theatre opening weekend is a top tier moviegoing experience for me.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the theatrical trailer for that movie is so wildly inappropriate to the tone of the actual film. I just remember seeing it at this upscale indie theatre in Chicago and all these 60 year old yuppies were so pissed it wasn’t the film that was advertised. Meanwhile, me and my brother were absolutely in love with every second. I’ll never forget it.

This was fine. It is surprising to see the director of something as blunt as Three Billboards show real nuance.

rewatched In Bruges last night and while it remains great, I think I might actually prefer Banshees

Rewatching this at home was so rewarding -- there are so many subtle little lines and moments you don't pick up on the first time. Just a few off the top of my head:

Right before Siobhan and Dominic's scene by the lake, the banshee is creepily waving Siobhan towards the water -- but at the time we don't know that Dominic's right behind Siobhan, so I realized she's actually waving Dominic towards the water where he'll eventually die.

Padraic repeatedly stops Jenny from sniffing at the box with Colm's finger in it.

Dominic tells Padraic that the two things he hates are "war and soap", seemingly a dumb funny line but devastating when you realize his father likely beats him with bars of soap.

It was much sadder on rewatch as well. My theater was full of that annoying thing where the movie's kind of funny so people don't know what to laugh at and end up laughing throughout scenes that take a turn for the devastating, like Dominic's proposal.

Finally saw this. I don’t think I’ve laughed so much while feeling such dread as I have since “Uncut Gems.” Farrell gave such a great performance on top of two other fantastic turns in 2022. What a talent.

Kerry Condon was absolutely tremendous in this, she stole the movie for me

absolutely excellent movie, my only problem with it was my friend speaking over the "there goes that dream" line that literally everyone is raving about lmao. so frustrating

My mom hated this and I explained that the entire movie was an allegory for the Irish Civil War

she asked what’s an allegory, I explained what it was, then she said I don’t like that lmao

Such an amazing film!!! The four leads all gave such wonderful performances. I need to see Kerry Condon in more things because she was riveting in every scene, and I mean obviously there's nothing new I could say about the dynamic between Farrell and Gleeson. Just phenomenal performances from everybody

this was Kerry's movie imo. I've thought about that scene where she absolutely demolishes Colm like twice a day

"great, another silent man on Inisherin"
