Disagree - thought it was an excellent reminder of how many good bands and singers Australia have produced.

I’m with you, it was a really good celebration and I was happy to hear so many interviews with the artists - it was very wholesome

I’m interested to see how many “newer” bands and artists (think 2010 onwards) will fill out the hottest 200

new Pendulum album has some heaters so far, still insane to me that Immersion is 15 years old

the closer is one of their best songs I think, really gorgeous stuff. it's a shame both the previous two EPs make up half the album though I hate that

  10. it’s been a crazy good year for Australian music

it’s my third year as an Australian Music Prize judge so I’ve been listening to A LOT of different stuff

    absolutely loving these:

floodlights - underneath - grandiose yet intimate indie rock, gorgeous record

MUDRAT - social cohesion - punk meets hip-hop for a stunning fusion of protest songs. incredible

suzi - patchwork - emo/pop-punk sang in a bright Australian accent. equally devastating and bright

ninajirachi - I love my computer - not usually an EDM person but Nina really pulled me in with the stories and production of this record

dust - sky is falling - probably my favourite Australian band atm. really strong post-punk, the melodies really grow on you too

ocean grove - ODDWORLD - released last year but it’s fucking unreal how much I love this album. Nu-metal done to perfection

thornhill - bodies - thornhill really levelled up with this album, really awesome alt-metal akin to Deftones

chasing ghosts - therapy - everything about this band makes me happy. the way Jimmy sings, the huge melodies, the First Nations stories over punk rock riffs
