I feel like everyone disliked Welcome the Night because it wasn’t what they expected compared to that traditional Ataris sound. I feel like those who were more open minded to the songwriting shift ended up more pleased with it. I love that album.
Welcome The Night is good, So Long Astoria is great, and I could never get into their other stuff other than All Souls' Day, but I do need to give it another shot
Blues Skies, Broken Hearts... is the only other record of theirs that even comes close to So Long, Astoria. Come on! EDIT: Also, I'm jamming So Long, Astoria right now and can confirm it rocks.
I love when this thread periodically lights up with Welcome the Night love. I know it may not be Kris' best, but I happen to enjoy it immensely.
End is Forever absolutely blew my 14 year old mind. I think you can make an argument for it being best.
Take You Need A Hug and Teenage Riot off and you got a solid case for this argument. Those two lower the album compared to Blue Skies.
They changed the artwork for the Welcome the Night B-Sides to the original album artwork. I totally forgot this even existed.
I was having trouble sleeping and for some reason started thinking about the worst people I've encountered online. I'm sort of cursed to remember things in too much detail. Anyhow, I got to googling and found something incredible but had absolutely no one to share it with. This is for you old AMBers who are still around www.wvxu.org/local-news/2022-02-28/jamie-schwartz-ll-pleads-guilty-steve-chabot-campaign-manager
I think I was el_troyo_11 on the The AMB and Fourchordwonder on the Yellowcard board (and then AbsolutePunk as well). I don't think I posted much on the AMB though.
