Wow, Not Capable of Love was not on the original tracklist? I always thought it was a banger opener, but I need to try this version. Also plz god I hope we get an update on the new album soon
Yeah, that one, "New Year's Day," and "Connections Are More Dangerous Than Lies" were recorded later, if I remember right, and sound totally different than the rest of the album to my ears. I always assumed they or the label decided the original tracklist didn't have any singles.
Live acoustic performance of Cardiff-by-the-Sea with the same vocals as the album as opposed to the modified ending of the later version (Napster and Adventure Club live sessions)
Looks like they're still on track for March/April The Ataris: "We're on a mission to make new music and be the best band we can be every time we go on stage" - Punk Rock Philosophy
Need this album so badly in my life. Also, if they want a review ... need it now We all deserve something good. No delays please.
Guessing March and April are off the table now. Hoping for early summer? I know we won’t get it until Fall at the earliest[\spoiler]
Question: during the last half of 2007, was the bass player for The Ataris Sean Hansen or a guy called Eric Doucette? Some sources state that Eric Doucette toured with The Ataris as a bassist in 2007. If you watch live vids of the band from the autumn of 2007, the bassist plays in a totally different style than that of Sean Hansen.
Here's what I got. According to this article, in 2007 a band called The Bonnie Situation opened for The Ataris and has a member, Eric Doucette. Maybe Sean had to bow out from a tour for some reason and Eric filled in? No record of this that I can find though. https://www.recordonline.com/story/...surprise-set-ataris-get-intimate/52961965007/
I believe it was Eric Doucette. I saw the band during this era and was wondering this exact same thing during the show. It's made more confusing due to him using the same guitar that Sean used.
Sean Hansen left to work on the Park Ranger album Safe Without Sound by himself and Keith something. The bass Eric used is a Fender standard Jazz bass whereas Sean Hansen used a Geddy Lee signature model.
I know Eric, and it was him. he eventually started a band with some friends of mine called Circus Fires, out of Madison, WI.
I'll message him about this. I've DMed him in the past at length about Welcome the Night, and was very glad to see that he still loves that album.
Looks like "Bach & Haydn" is making it onto the new album. Its track name was changed on the Silver Turns to Rust compilation to "Our Hardest Goodbyes" on March 5, 2026. "You and Your Perfect Li(f)e" had been changed to "Juliet Naked" as well. Hype?!?!?
