I assume it would just be a special b-side for the 7 inch. Fast Times at Dropout High was (at least initially) intended to be on the album, so that's another re-recording of an old song.

I'm not mad at all, I'm just being realistic here. I never thought this album would be released, so it's very cool that we're finally getting it.

I Won't Spend Another Night Alone was an unlisted hidden track on SLA. If Kris puts both In This Diary and Fast Times as hidden tracks on the new album, that's cool. As long as they don't take the space of potential new Ataris songs, which I would much rather hear.

Kris posted clips of several new songs on their story a few weeks ago. They all sounded good.

    this is all there is

The newer version of Fast Times is incredible and even if it got put on the new album exactly as-is from the release a decade or whatever ago, I'd be okay with that because it's so damn good.

Maybe In This Diary got a similar reimagining? (big time wishful thinking on my part, but you never know)

  4. I'm not going to be able to handle the negativity of this thread for this album cycle if people are complaining the whole time that we're getting finished versions of demos? Like ... yes?

    Things have changed.

I either didn't listen to the demos or don't remember them. So they'll basically all be brand-new to me, even "Car Song."

All Souls Day, Fast Times (new version), 12.15.10 and The Graveyard of the Atlantic are not demos and previously released.

You And Your Perfect Li(f)e, Some Notes on Bach and Haydn, Is This How We End Up and Car Song are non-finished demos. There were also a bunch of demos we haven't gotten completed versions for yet on a release Kris uploaded to Bandcamp on RSD 2015. Would be cool to get finished versions for those.

I couldn't find any "negativity" and "people complaining the whole time" in here. I'm sorry if my cautious/realistic approach to this album release is offending anyone.

  7. i've listened to every Ataris demo i've gotten my hands on, but i don't listen to them repeatedly, so they'll all sound new to me when/if they're officially released.

Some of those demos are really good too. Full band, properly-produced versions are going to give them new life. I'm here for it.

And, really, it's just nice to see Kris happy and positive. There's a chance this album gives the band new life.

Wow, Kris traded the Breaking Bad car for studio time to make the record! Crazy.

  13. Cutting the version posted right before premiering the song is cruel. :crylaugh:

The interviewer is BRUTAL. Was skipping through to try to get to the song, but sounds like it's not there!

"If all goes well the record should be out in the fall, but for some reason it carries over into june, it might take the record into early next year."

His reference to a new song having REM/Gin Blossoms vibes has me stoked. And that rock one he keeps playing clips of sounds like a continuation of So Long, Astoria vibes and I cannot wait for this release.

I remember Bill Roe posting on The Ataris forum back in the early 2000's and being so proud of Kris. This is a cool way to honor him, but feel like it ahold be kept to just presses for Kris and family and not to sent to the general public.
