Glad I never became a diehard Ataris fan because it probably would eat me alive inside.

I have enough frustrations as it is being an obsessed fan of both Incubus and The Get Up Kids.

 

GNR started recording songs for Chinese Democracy in 1994 and it came out in 2008. That's a year longer than it's been since Kris announced GOTA.

Next year we will be the same length of time from the release of the Use Your Illusion albums to Chinese Democracy as Welcome The Night assuming GOTA actually comes out

 

It's never coming, and that's fine. If he just wants to do old stuff forever and that fulfills him, then cool with me.

 

I remember the internet excitement when GNR performed a House of Blues date on New Years in 2001 and we got an audience recording out of it. They played 3 songs from Chinese Democracy, plus Absurd (known as Silkworms at the time) and Oh My God from the End Of Days soundtrack.

Still wasn't until 7 years later that Chinese Democracy finally got released.

 

Releasing the album in the same timespan as Chinese Democracy would be a pretty funny marketing opportunity

Will the new Ataris album come out before the new blink album? Time will tell.

 

Since 2008 when they announced Graveyard, Blink has broken up and reunited, had a different member, reunited with an original member again, and released an EP and basically 4 full length albums. Haha insane.

 

Same here. I just want him to either stop teasing it (he described it as “forthcoming” as late as 2020) or just say it’s dead.

 

I feel like if the album ever actually comes out, it's just going to be the songs we've already heard a million times over the last 15 years, a couple finished full band songs of acoustic demos we've already heard, and then maybe one or two brand new songs. I wish Kris would just release it as is, basically, and then just wash his hands of it and start fresh on something new. Get the SLA lineup back for a new album or something.

Actually... This is probably nothing, but maybe something:
I'm friends with Mike on Facebook and before their SLA shows recently, he posted a pic of them all rehearsing for the shows, sans Kris, and I asked "Where's Kris?" and Mike wrote back "Writing songs of course." So I replied "new album stuff??" and he said "A gentlemen never tells!!!"

So yeah, who the hell knows... haha

 

Still crazy that Mike got out of prison so fast.

how long was he in for? i met him in 2014 on the so long astoria 10 yr tour and he was super nice, he played double duty that night with versus the world, it was impressive!

 

He was sentenced to seven years in 2019 but was out shortly after COVID began, I think.

third of all, i listened to each of the demos again and then the "new" version, and yeah, it's pretty much the same as the earlier demos of the song, but with an added drum loop.

I dunno why Kris didn’t say anything, but Chris Knapp and John are playing on the Everclear tour. Or were until Kris got covid.

He said they wanted Mike out too but couldn’t make it happen, so John’s been playing bass. It sounds pretty cool as a trio

 

Interesting! Bummer they had to cancel the Utah date.

a long time ago

 

i met him in 2014, would of never saw that coming. my ex best friends dad went to jail for the same thing and lasted a lot longer in there.

 

Makes me happy to see these guys together again.
