Happy 20th birthday to So Long Astoria! I remember asking my mom to take me to the store to buy this CD during lunch in high school. I has my disc man in my backpack already. After school, I walked home and listened to the whole thing and looooved it.
The show in Anaheim a few weeks ago was awesome. Kris made it a point to let everyone know that they were playing the album out of order as they felt it would be better live with different sequencing. He was right. Was pretty cool to see a headlining band set up all their own shit and just start right when they were done getting everything ready. No messing around, no making the moment seem bigger than it was - just dudes up there playing music to a bunch of people who really REALLY loved it. After So Long, Astoria they played the b-sides and then a few deep cuts from End is Forever and Blue Skies. Was a great night, though I was a little disappointed that Mest wasn't better live. Not sure what I expected there.
What does everyone want in a new Ataris album? Would y’all prefer to see Graveyard Of The Atlantic get a release, or some new idea altogether? Would you want all the Graveyard songs that have been released on the album? Do you wanna hear the classic SLA sound, or more Welcome The Night, or like some Ataris opus embracing all eras? Would u buy an Ataris double album?
Welcome the Night is in my top favorite albums of all time (I know I’m in the minority) so something along those lines but at this point I would take literally anything.
Serious reply: What I want is for Kris to stop stringing people along that an album is coming. The random merch drops and releases of (paradoxically) non-Graveyard new music are just weird. I still think about how John Collura mentioned in an interview that Kris had zero business acumen, and it shows. It makes sense now that once Mike D left (who John implied was taking care of a lot of the business stuff), the band basically fell apart.
Anything at this point. The GOTA songs deserve a proper release. Kris can add whatever he wants as well. I'll take a single, double, or triple album at this point.
yeah, it's different than the demo versions, as far as i can tell on just one listen. not far off though.
THE GRAVEYARD OF THE ATLANTIC WAS ANNOUNCED IN 2008!! In that time I have had… - 3 different presidents - 3 diplomas - 1 divorce - Lived in 6 different cities - Lost a parent - Watched KGLW release like 10000 albums - Watched other bands of the era continue on and release albums consistently - Watched other bands of the era break up, get back together, release multiple albums Literally the list goes on and on. Kris release the fucking album.
