I'm not suggesting he shouldn't. I'd just prefer he spend his time writing new, hopefully future classics for us to listen to these days. As I've said repeatedly in this thread, he's way too talented of a songwriter to keep resting on his laurels like this. It's frustrating.
Last podcast he was on he said he had like 200+ songs written in demo form, but not the money to record them where he’d like, but hopes to have something out in 2024.
I know Kris doesn't feel comfortable crowdfunding himself... but what if we do it for him? I'd give up a good chunk of change for a new Ataris album recorded where and how Kris wants it.
So would I, if I knew for certain it was actually going towards that… And if he actually did it and wasn’t like “oh yeah, I just need to do lyrics to 300 songs” for 30 years.
Yeahhhh I would love to do that but only would if he had a producer who would actually give him a concrete timeline lol
Sounded to me like he is over thinking it and the longer the wait goes on the worse it'll be. Heard that too and was hoping for more insight into his creative struggles etc over the last 20 years. I appreciate the financial difficulties but to me it sounds as if he's setting the bar too high for himself, he would surely be feeling the weight of expectation after minimal output in 20(!) years. 200 ideas is all well and good, but cut it down and focus on 30.
I actually respect it if he's holding out to record in a particular place or a particular way, as there's been many an album released from bands I enjoy that I wish they'd had the time and money to record more properly.
Yeah but it’s been like 15 years since they put out a new album, and he’s been telling fans for at least 10 years that it’ll be out “next year.”
Yeah it has literally been over a decade. Everything he has released as well in between has been stellar, including the Fast Times re-recording. Cmon Kris.
I think my favorite band shirt I ever owned was an Ataris shirt. It was the Pacman with a lip ring one. I remember me and my friends drove from Anaheim for a video shoot at Down on Haley in Santa Barbara when I was 15 (friend who drove was 16 and had just gotten their license and I don't think could even legally drive us) and that was probably one of the most formative experiences of my life.
Teasing something? They’ve posted a couple of these. Or my first thought: hacked by a menswear brand?
Probably a tour announcement of some kind, knowing them. but I hope it’s them actually announcing new album plans.
for sure, that's gotta be what it is. and maybe the people in the pictures are Mike and Chris, and maybe the next one will be John.
Must’ve gotten out then lol. He was sentenced to 7 years in 2019 Former Rocker Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison for Defrauding Thousands in Nationwide Real Estate Scam
yeah, if he went, it wasn't for long because he's always posting pictures and whatnot on his facebook and shit.
Reading about the case only having to pay 815k out of a 27mil fraud scheme seems very light. Also financial crimes are usually a slap on the wrist anyway.
Looks like he was released in 2021 from a comment he posted on his first insta post saying “I’m home”
Id like to add that I'm seeing this incredibly wacky show next tuesday in a small bar in a suburban town in texas. They're also playing a bunch of really really small towns all over Texas in the next week or so. WHY??? Kris Rowe solo is opening lol
It'll be a variation of "I've got a bunch written for it, just need to track a few vocals and decide on what makes the cut, you'll see it hopefully in a year" that he's been saying for 15 years now.
