Yeah, definitely my AOTY now. Crazy that it's been a decade since I first found them with Untitled and that ended up being my AOTY for 2015.

 

how did I not realize JMJ and George Clarke were featured in promo shots for Well Made Play

 

Heathen and A More Perfect Design are an insane way to close the album, lordy

I Steal What I Want is really hitting today

Never really listened to much from these guys but this album is grabbing me and I don’t know why. Lyrics really hit well for me. Is this how all their albums sound?

 

the last one is much different than this

 

Older albums are more like this, but it’s not a 1 for 1. I’d listen to Only Love next, then go forward from there. This is the most digestible version of their heavier stuff imo

 

New album is absolutely vicious. Nice return to form.

 

I really like Perfect Saviors but I do think this might be their best work overall

 

I’m with you. Feels like the most focused distillation of everything that works for the band, poppiness and heaviness.

 

Definitely prefer when the band is going all out on most of the record. Heathen is cool though, especially with the sax. That and Sharp Teeth are definitely the odd man out on this record. Although, I guess the latter was written during the Ultrapop sessions.

 

Grace Obscure is really something else

Damn, this is probably my favorite Armed album. Really wasn’t expecting them to go harder after the last album went poppier

 

This is so good. Perfect saviors didn’t grab me as much as ultra pop did so it’s a nice return

 

Ultrapop didn't go remotely as hard as this
