This guy has been dominating the news and culture for 9 years and maybe another 4. That seems like a tough sell, similar to when W. came out at the end of the Bush Administration.
Damn this wasn't very good. Jeremy Strong was great. Watching Sebastian Stan slowly morph into Trump was great. Everything else... not so great. Bummer.
A Different Man hits digital on Nov. 5th, if anyone wants a movie with Sebastian Stan that's probably better.
This sagged into typical biopic territory just a bit in the middle, but man, the first and third acts were great. Stan's descent into becoming the Trump we know is fascinating, but even with Strong's performance echoing Kendall Roy, the movie really becomes harrowing when Cohn finally realizes what he created (and how that reflects on the way he lived his life). It's a true American horror story; it feels like a documentary on how to sell your soul.
I wonder how/if the election sways favor on this at all. I’m not trying to subject myself to an additional two hours of someone I’m stuck with for 4 years against my will
