Me too. Seems like IR was the band's most streamlined take on post rock yet so I'm super curious for how this next one goes

 

the drumming on IR was incredible. i need more of that in my life.

 

the problem with starting with LLO is that you're basically opening with one of the best records EVER

so... technically it's all down-hill from there

still, AC's worst album is better than yr favorite band's "materpiece"

I mean, Mare Votalis, Two Conversations, and Illumination Ritual are all great too so that's okay.

And I completely disagree with the last part of your post.

TC might be my favorite too

 

Two Conversations is probably also my favorite, but Low Level Owl is probably right behind it. I'll be able to say those things with more confidence after I give their discography a spin throughout the week.

 

Their tour announcement with Caspian seemed to suggest that new music was coming later this year, so I really hope that's the case. Interested to see where they go from here - I'd love to get something in the Peregrine vein again, i.e. with more of a broad indie influence.

Yeah I enjoy IR more than any of the others, although i can't deny TC is a classic

 

So from their tour announcement I get the impression they're opening for Caspian.
I'd hope it'd be closer to a co-headlining type gig. I need a FULL AC set!!

 

I'm surprised at all of the love for TC. LLO has long been generally considered their best work and TC was considered a step backwards at the time of its release. Which, I still think is true. Not to say TC isn't solid, but it doesn't have the level of musicianship, creativity, or experimentation that is found on LLO. Not even close, to be honest.

 

Unpopular opinion time-- I find a lot of LLO a chore to sit through. Maybe it's too much ambient noise. Maybe it's the lack of a pop sensibility that I love so much in TC, the song structures of IR. It's just one of my least favorite Appleseed Cast records.

 

What are your thoughts on Mare Vitalis?

 

thats the only appleseed cast album ive never heard and i just turned it on now

I hardly listen to Sagamartha and Ring Wars. Maybe I'll check those out again but I'm not sure.
