Trying to cover the bases of a lot of big films coming out in the first half of 2025 and there wasn't a thread for this yet.

From 20th Century based off the 1981 novel of the same name. Directed by James Hawes, and starring Rami Malek, Laurence Fishburn, Rachel Brosnahan, Jon Bernthal, and CaitrĂona Balfe.

  2. Good cast, will be checking this out

Yeah this looks up my alley. Taken but with a nerd. Action films are great when they subvert expectations of what a protagonist hero can be.

Holt McCallany also looks great in this. He is becoming one of my favorite character actors.

I had no idea this movie existed until I saw the trailer before Nosferatu. I'm in, but I really just don't vibe with Rami Malek now for some reason, so I wish someone else was the lead. I'll be watching regardless.

i saw the trailer for this before Babygirl alongside like 5 other movies that all seemed to be some variation of John Wick

It'd be funny if we find out someday that Rami Malek is notoriously bad with computers.

This was okay. It's basically if Mr. Robot was doing Jason Bourne stuff.

A little dry. I still don't really buy Rami Malik as a film leading man and this movie didn't really change my mind.

  14. All of those thoughts are exactly how I expected to feel about this, lol. Will be watching at some point but good to know I should keep my expectations exactly where they should be

Bernthal isn't in this much. Maybe 2 scenes and he is doing the same Bernthal character he always does.

The most accurate review I read this is a good example of when a film has no personality it become harder to suspend disbelief if the plot makes little sense. That it is fine if a film takes some leaps make sense, but it better have a spark of charm to make up for it.

This movie is well made but pretty lifeless

I did like the bit in this where Rami Malek watches a YouTube tutorial on lockpicking while trying to break into his target's apartment
