CHEVELLE's PETE And SAM LOEFFLER Haven't Spoken To Their Brother And Former Bandmate JOE In 20 Years This is kind of sad to read. Sounds like Joe is estranged from the entire family. It's kind of jarring to read how little they seem to care but that's because I have no experience of what it's like to have a family member that clearly toxic. Still, twenty years without even knowing what your sibling is up to, that's wild.
That's crazy but I do have some experience with stuff like that and sometimes severing all ties is best for everyone
I've continued my Sevendust kick and I think I've finally found a lot to like about Kill The Flaw. It is still lower on the totem pole just because something has to be, but I'm finding myself digging a lot more of the songs with each new listen.
Their first few records are incredible. After Animosity, they became inconsistent with highs and lows.
I know a lot of people who actually prefer Seasons over Animosity as their high point. In any case, I would say even their "lows" are great. They're a very consistent band. Hard pressed to consider anything they've done to be bad.
They have always had “tracks” on each album but I’m not sure as whole each release has been great since those early albums. Either way, I listen to them all the time and every new record will always get a spin from me.
Alice In Chains influence is laid on very thick but this probably would have been 16 y/o me’s favorite album
Don’t get me wrong I love Alice In Chains as much as anybody loves any band on God’s green earth but the verse of For Real is *exactly* the same as A Looking in View lol
New Josey Scott. Not a fan of the verses here. Edit: Apparently it's about the whole Saliva name drama Edit 2: " What about the times you left a man who couldn't breathe, With friends like you who needs enemies, Three strikes and you're out of there apparently, Just like you left Wayne Swinny there in Germany, Then you did the same thing on his mother's floor, Another rusty nail straight through his coffin door, The third time was a charm for you, With Wayne's body and a helicopter turning blue but you had a show to do" OOF
There's a second song too. Same subject. Because he says Bobby started it by writing "Hit 'Em Where It Hurts", which I don't know, maybe, but the lyrics to that are intentionally vague while this is not only completely opaque but making some absolutely wild accusations. This is why I have no sympathy for Scott. He left the band, said nothing for years, did a show with the band's new formation, and now he wants to take it all back after all the other old members are gone/dead. And he does it like this, like a child. I haven't listened to either song. I have no interest in doing so.
I think Animosity is where they perfected the formula. I jumped off after Seasons but it seems like they've always been consistent and stayed true to what they want to do as a band so that's cool.
They're incredibly consistent for a band that's about to release their 15th album. The only ones I find skipworthy are Chapter VII, Blood & Stone and Next. Interestingly, my favorites consist of two trilogies: Home - Animosity - Seasons Black Out The Sun - Kill The Flaw - All I See Is War Truth Killer has grown on me a lot lately. If it had a couple more upbeat and aggressive cuts, I'd put it up there with these.
I can't consider any of their albums to be "skippable". Like, on Next, "Shadows In Red" especially is one of their best songs. "Pieces", "The Last Song", "Hope", "The Past", "Prodigal Son", all fucking jams. I just relistened to Blood & Stone last night. "Love", "Kill Me", "Feel Like Going On", "Criminal", "Against The World", one of the best to ever do it.
