So I've been heavily binging Bush the last week or so, and I've been thinking about something and as far as I can tell no one is talking about this anywhere, but I feel like Rossdale's voice changed on the last album and this one.

It sounds more nasal, and it's just so strange to me that his voice would change that much seemingly out of nowhere. Am I imagining this? Like, on The Kingdom he sounds like he always has, but then suddenly on The Art Of Survival there's this change in tone, and it's continued on this new one.

Just taking some getting used to, especially when playing one album after the other.

The guy is going to be 60 in a few months... He is not the same as he used to be.

On that note, I would kill for an anniversary tour for Golden State. I love that album so much. That one and Gravity by OLP.

That Institute album was fire too.

I get this, it's just jarring since it's not like a lot of time passed between albums. I dunno, I guess I expected a more gradual change with age. Made me wonder if something physically happened.

So since I've been binging Bush and they have a lot of non-album/bonus material on Spotify, I decided to do like I did with Fall Out Boy and Linkin Park and make myself a little b-sides set, which I'm pretty pleased with and so I'm sharing here what I've done for anyone who cares.

I made two "discs" of 15 songs each, trying to take from Institute and Rossdale's solo album as well, since it's all one at this point, really.

    There were some unfortunate omissions:

"Homebody" from The Science Of Things is not on Spotify, nor is "Adrenaline" from the XXX soundtrack, which is a huge loss.

I missed a cover of "Mind Games" that Rossdale did, but I'm not in the mood to include it.

I was going to put the band's cover of "In A Lonely Place" on here, but it's long and honestly kind of not fun to listen to.

I also did not include "This Is War" or "Alien Language" from Black And White Rainbows because I honestly don't consider them to be bonus tracks, since they were integrated in a revised tracklisting instead of being tacked on the end.

Anyway, this is what I ended up with and where they came from:

    01. "The Buzz Of My System" (from Distort Yourself)
    02. "Broken TV" (from Razorblade Suitcase)
    03. "Japanese Freight Train" (from Golden State)
    04. "The Year Of Danger" (from The Sea Of Memories)
    05. "Lay Down Your Guns" (from The Sea Of Memories)
    06. "Old" (from Razorblade Suitcase)
    07. "Beware False Prophets" (from The Kingdom)
    08. "Let Yourself Go" (from Man On The Run)
    09. "Come Together" (The Beatles cover) (from Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023)
    10. "Jungle In The Circus" (from Wanderlust)
    11. "Sleeper" (from Razorblade Suitcase)
    12. "God Gave Us Land" (from Distort Yourself)
    13. "Vaya Con Dios" (from Wanderlust)
    14. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (Joy Division cover) (from The Sea Of Memories)
    15. "Miracle" (from The Art Of Survival)

    01. "All Things Must Change" (from The Art Of Survival)
    02. "The Art Of Walking" (from Distort Yourself)
    03. "Fireball" (from Golden State)
    04. "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere" (from Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023)
    05. "Into The Blue" (from Avengers Assemble soundtrack)
    06. "Lose Myself Tonight" (from Wanderlust)
    07. "Ghost" (from The Sea Of Memories)
    08. "American Eyes" (from Golden State)
    09. "You Can't Run From What You Forget" (from Wanderlust)
    10. "Speeding Through The Bright Lights" (from Man On The Run)
    11. "Bubbles" (from Razorblade Suitcase)
    12. "S.S.T." (from Distort Yourself)
    13. "Heroes" (David Bowie cover) (from The Kingdom)
    14. "Live Another Day" (from The Kingdom)
    15. "The Golden Age" (from Man On The Run)

Can you link to the actual playlist?

Edit: You can add an Institute song or that one Gavin did with the Blue Men Group as bonuses.

And I wonder what other bands have auch a deep discography where you can make stuff like this. Biffy Clyro for sure. Silverstein probably too.

Well four of the songs are Institute songs, they're the ones that say "(from Distort Yourself)". They're the b-sides/bonus tracks from that album.

I thought about "The Current", but decided against it because ultimately it's a Blue Man Group song and no different than if I included Apocalyptica's "End Of Me".

I'm sure there's quite a lot out there that haven't for whatever reason gathered their material in their own collections.

For this genre, one that comes to mind off the bat and one I'll probably turn my attention to at some point is Seether. They've done quite a lot of soundtrack cuts, album rereleases, and deluxe versions, so they've amassed a lot of excess material. I could probably make a two-disc set from them.

Another one, for nu-metal, that would be fun is Korn. They've had quite a lot of international bonus tracks, especially on their latter-era albums, but unlike Seether, the majority of those cuts are not on streaming for whatever reason, which sucks. i wish more bands could get all of their material up for listening, especially rarer tracks that people won't easily be able to access otherwise.

Winkler calling his new band The Founder is such a lame passive-aggressive move.

I saw Hinder a few weeks ago, they were pretty good live but I prefer Winkler ove the guy from Faktion.

BTW one of Hinder's songs from one of their latest albums was originally a Faktion song.

I can't say I care one way or the other. Hinder is a band I don't hate but don't give much attention, partially because I sort of blame them for rock bands trying to be sleazier around that time. Papa Roach, Theory Of A Deadman...

  18. Really liked that first Theory of a Deadman album. Saw them at a music festival around that time and they put on an amazing live show. Some great songs on Gasoline as well. I fell off hard when they started fully leaning into misogyny on their next few albums (or at least the singles I heard). Seems like it was a great career move for them though, unfortunately.

Every once in a while, like Nickelback, they show signs of that more promising earlier version, but alas, the masses demand jingles.

I’m ready for new Revis. Curious if they still have some songwriting magic from Places for Breathing left inside them.

The mini-album they put out last year was great.

It was fine but sounded nothing like the first album.

July For Kings also released some new music lately, also doesn't sound very similar to their first album.

I disagree, in fact I was surprised because I thought it'd sound less like the first album than we got, but still had some big choruses, which I appreciated.
