Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style of wuxia would totally work here. Hopefully we’ll get it towards the end. I’ll even take some sword fighting wuxia from Touch of Zen.
Some of us actually have wives who are watching the show with us despite not obsessing over Star Wars for 34+ years. I appreciate them helping her out lol
finally rewatching the first 4 episodes. having lots of thoughts based on details i've missed. will share later, but i'm starting to develop a greater appreciation for things i was iffy on
ok, just finished my rewatch of the first 4 episodes. overall, i've grown to really enjoy all of them more with additional viewings, including episode 3 (i still stand by my comments on the pacing/execution/story structure and some of the tropiness, but the acting is not as wooden as i initially perceived it to be, with everyone delivering performances ranging from serviceable to fantastic). seeing this story play out again with knowledge of later episodes really puts things into perspective, and i think they're ultimately playing the long game here with a possibility of some nice payoffs. i have lots of minor thoughts, but the two big things that stick out to me are as follows. first, i completely missed Yord mentioning in episode 1 that Indara had some concerns about Osha right before she left the Jedi Order, which Osha was quick to shoot down. i'm wondering if this is hinting at Osha's possible darker nature, which might have some more clarity with a) any scenes with the Master, and b) in Jedi Temple flashbacks. we already knew she had issues with attachment, so Yord's comment about Indara doesn't feel like it's about a longstanding feeling of grief, but about something more sudden. it'll be interesting to see if/how that shapes her character development retroactively. the second is when Sol was reading Mae's mind in episode 2 and noting that her Master has gone to great lengths to hide his identity, i'm wondering if he was able to deduce more than he let on. i don't know if it's possible for a Jedi to use mind reading to gain perception of others that aren't the person whose mind they're reading, but Sol's delivery of that line read to me like he might have a stronger sense of who Mae's Master might be more than she does? am i wrong to assume this? it would fit with his general mysteriousness that he claims he'll soon reveal to Osha. some theories obviously imply that the Master is Qimir, so if this is the case and he deduces that as the Master's identity, perhaps he doesn't reveal it to the Jedi council immediately because he has some sort of long game plan in mind. if, however, theories about there being another Master are correct, maybe this is what he saw, and his silence about that person comes from a general place of not fully knowing anything else about them other than their existence. idk, that's a long-winded way to say that i think Sol might know more about the mystery at hand than Mae or Osha do. edit: one last thing. i think i was a little too critical of Manny Jacinto here. yes, the bumbling demeanor might be intentional and somewhat off-putting, but i think as we progress, we might be complimented with something that's more sinister and the complete opposite if Qimir is not only the Master, but has/is part of much larger plans. the few moments where he's not overtly clumsy are actually quite enjoyable and somewhat sinister, and if Manny can pull off both of those attitudes, i'll definitely be impressed
I really hope tonight's episode is good. This first half has been less than impressive, but this is the point where I feel like they can still turn it around. Just give me tons of badass fight choreography and some interesting Sith lore stuff.
I mean, since he tried to spoiler tag it, he should fix it. But it’s what he believes to be true, not confirmation. Just throwing that out there for anyone who saw that and thought it was confirmed.
fuck, i'm really sorry, y'all. i thought i typed it correctly. i fixed it. for the record, i'm in the dark about how everything plays out, like everyone else. just thought lots of people were on the same page on some of the theories. but i could be wrong, hence the attempt to tag it.
