This thread is making me want to revisit all the live action shows again. Aside from Ahsoka and Mandi season one I’ve only seen each one once
I am doing a watch of all the animated series (currently at the end of Rebels season 3) while reading all the canon Timothy Zahn Thrawn novels, so I will definitely do a rewatch of Ahsoka pretty soon.
Mando S2 is my favorite season because the arc felt incredibly cohesive and gets into the whole "questioning religious authority" thing (even if it was somewhat undone later on)
I liked it because it neatly wrapped up the storyline that started in season 1 and brought back characters in justifiable ways. Honestly they didn’t even need a S3
Finally got a chance to watch the new episode and really liked it. It’s cool to see a new Dark Side Force cult, which was a big aspect of much of Phase 2 of the High Republic stuff. I think my only gripe at this point is the lackluster score.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned the witch “laughing maniacally” and how they very clearly just copy pasted the laugh twice lol
Yeaaah... I mean this wasn't absolutely awful but it also wasn't very good. Visuals are nice and I like the events of the story but the writing and acting was not good. Chant/ritual scene was honestly laughable I'm still interested in the show though
alright, some thoughts. spoilers below: definitely dug this one, but damn, was it short. some great action and creature design, but its length felt like there wasn't much to chew on substantively. and that's fine, since it seems to be less of a theme-heavy episode and more a smaller portion of the larger story at hand. surprisingly really loving everyone's acting here (even Charlie Barnett) except Manny Jacinto. i know he's supposed to have a bumbling demeanor (that may or may not be a ruse), but it just doesn't feel well-executed. the scene with Kelnacca's chest sliced open was pretty graphic, and i wish we had more gruesome imagery like that in SW. sad he's gone so soon, but i assume we'll see more with additional Brendok flashbacks. also a little fun to see Ki-Adi-Mundi again, even if supposedly people don't like him. did the dynamic between Osha and Jecki read a tiny bit queer to anyone else? or is that just me? on a related note, i'm not upset about the line about Bazil's pronouns (thought it was kinda funny), but given the visceral reactions this show has been getting from incel fans, i think its inclusion might bring out their bullshit even more. i guess my only big question is why did Mae switch up her mission so quickly? it just felt like it came out of nowhere, prefaced only by "it's impossible to kill a Jedi with no weapon" maybe i'm missing something, but it seemed like there was supposed to be this arc about turning her, and her saying she'd willingly give herself over to the Jedi either feels somewhat clunky, or perhaps its part of a larger plan that's still rooted in revenge - especially given Leslye Headland's comments about usurping superiors to gain power of your own - hence the name of the show. i really hope it goes that route and doesn't take the easy way out of turning back to the Light so quickly. paralleling other character arcs such as Kylo Ren (at least in TLJ), i'd love to see a fake out with Mae where she seemingly gives up her mission, only to reveal that that was a lie and just double down on her commitment/revenge. overall, i'm excited to see where this goes, but i also think it needs to get there faster than it's been going.
I feel like there was no real build up to Mae changing her mind like that. Her turn kinda just came out of nowhere.
