I love this bands entire discography. When Lost in Pacific Time was released, I remember not really liking it, or not giving it a chance. Which is absurd cause those songs are so good.
Sometimes I’m glad they never continued beyond 3. Maybe that's because I love all 3 individually, and it's nice sometimes to have a band that doesn't overextend themselves beyond that.
Damn maybe it’s me haha. I still think Almost Here is their magnum opus. Every time I think back to that era, Almost Here is always one of those signature defining albums from that period for me.
Almost Here is an absolute classic, don’t get me wrong, but their songwriting hit an all time high with Santi IMO
I can respect that! I just remember being so disappointed with Santi when it came out so many moons ago. I definitely plan on revisiting it given I haven’t listened to it in well over a decade.
Almost Here is still my fav but Santi has my favorite mood if that makes any sense, I remember We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands dropping and just being blown away by the shift from Almost Here. Fast Times takes third but I still really like it!
Tbf, I was pretty meh on it when it first came out too. It’s a pretty jarring shift at some points. However, like a year later it clicked and now I love it.
A respectable opinion! I have great memories from the Fast Times era and touring. Still would rank it as 3rd, but it’s a great album.
Fast Times has grown on me through the years and Almost Here has dropped for me. Paper Chase/One More weekend are such good closers for the album and I've always loved the beginning of Crowded Room with Gabe Saporta on those gangish vocals
My boyfriend does not listen to this type of music at all, but yesterday His Girl Friday came on shuffle and he was singing the chorus all afternoon. Then asked who it was and has been listening to them since.
The band just posted this on Facebook and it's amazing and terrible A few days after the release of “Almost Here,” we drove into Los Angeles to film our first ever music video for the song “Classifieds.” We had been touring and hadn’t really taken the time to read the concept for the video, and were surprised to find ourselves living in a Green-Screened Dollhouse. We felt like the whole thing was super cheese. We pulled the plug on the video before it was even finished and went and rode the Ferris Wheel in Santa Monica. Somehow it wound up on the internet anyway…
I love how this band completely updated their sound for each album. Rare to see that these days in the genre. Shame we never got a 4th LP.
