Was just talking to @Jason Tate about how desperate I am for spring/summer weather after an absolutely brutal winter in Michigan, and this album is just perfect for that vibe. I have a feeling it will be getting a lot of spins over the next six months.
I know it’s been said a lot here, but… what a vibe. I’ll admit, I was hoping for at least one track with a bit more punch though. Guess we’ll see tonight.
100%. And today it is very cold at the moment but the sun is actually out, sneaking into the office window to the point where I actually had to close the blinds a bit this morning. And it has me itching. Hitting play on this now. I had forgotten this was coming out tomorrow.
They seem to be teasing Jon Walker. The Young Veins would blow everyone’s minds, but I very strongly doubt that’s happening.
I love this album on first listen, very much in the vein of a lot of what I listen to nowadays and a great example of a band maturing gracefully in my opinion
Mostly just by the younger side of the fandom on Twitter. Because of Jon hinting and Ryan making an IRL appearance or two not that long ago. Ryan also liked a reel on IG about Pretty. Odd.’s birthday after Jon posted it on his story. Which is rare for him.
Snow Days is my favourite on first listen. But I wish there were a few more tracks with a bit of 'oomph'
I have no attachment to the band as I really only ever loved a few songs from the debut and then more or less forgot the band existed, but listen number two and I think this is great. Love that recent comeback albums have not only been justified but in several cases have even exceeded a band’s previous work. I also think the production is good/works really well.
Haven’t really listened to the pre-release stuff but wow this has snow ellet’s fingerprints all over it
Yeah, this is a strong AOTY contender for me. After a winter where I went through some depressed spells, this is the antidote for that. "Snow Days" especially hits hard, thinking about close friends I lost touch with over the years. Great album, don't sleep on it.
Didn’t grab me as much as I’d hoped on first play through , but overall it’s an incredible return and one of the better albums from a band back after a decade without a record. Psyched to get more familiar with the album.
I enjoy this record for the most part but I do really wish it had more punch like Miracle on it. Show Days and Lost Signals are early standouts for me.
Yeah that was my reflection too. A little more punchy and a little more of their core ethos. I do love the Big swing to go for vibes on this one but I was anticipating a little more dream pop that was in 2005 or a couple of moments that really bring home their core musical inclinations on the first 3. I really did love the first run through and need more time to let it set in. The closest thing I can think of was new starting line really leaning into the producer they chose and doing something really immediate as a complete piece.
