Going to be honest, I never actually expected Acacia Strain to change up their sound significantly, but now that they've done it, I'm impressed how good it is.

 

Gravebloom is excellent and Death is The Only Mortal is still my favorite record from them

 

Coma Witch is my favorite. Home to one of my favorite lyrics ever, not just TAS.

"I wish there was a Hell so you could go there to rot
I wish there was a God so I could slit his fucking throat
I went to your funeral and nobody came
I only showed to piss in your grave"

Nothing I have heard since then has matched the raw hatefulness of those words.

 

I heard one of their newer songs on the radio and was so fucking stoked on it. When I Shazam'd it, I thought there was a problem with the app. I closed it and tried again. It perplexes me that they went in the direction that they did, but I fucking love it. They weren't a band I ever liked before, but I embrace the sludginess.

Never really been a fan other than a couple tracks from 3750/Dead Walk that I liked in HS, but the EP from December was cool. I will look into the new stuff.

 

I highly recommended giving the later part of their discography a re-listen

Jkjk I've really liked what I've heard from the EP's they've been rolling out so I'm stoked to hear more
