I never won any AP contests, but I did learn that I won a twitter contest through AP. Totally forgot I entered a contest for tix for Jimmy Eat World's Clarity anniversary tour. Someone PM'd me "Conrats dude!" because my usernames were the same. If I never got that PM, I would have never known.
I won a contest that allowed me to pick a song for Transit to cover acoustically. I picked a song by Jason Mraz and everyone hated it. I genuinely like the song I picked but the cover was pretty bad. It ended up being the meanest thing anyone did to that band until Thomas reviewed YNE.
i did the same to get them to cover a death cab song and then they never covered it and after six months i was like hey could i idk get my money back maybe and they were little piss babies about it
I paid no money but got my referral link used on a Strike Gently competitor and beat second place by many hundreds of entries.
It's honestly not as bad as I expected, the verses are kinda nice but when he goes for it with the chorus, it does kinda lose me. Love that song though
The only contest I ever won was for writing like a small review for fun.’s Aim and Ignite and the prize was having my top five for the year posted on the main page, iirc people just shit on my tastes.
I won Celtics playoff tickets via a contest a week after I stopped interning for their broadcast partner (who was running the contest) Think they rigged it for me lol
Won tickets for Honda Civic Tour with Blink headlining but missed Against Me! because it took me forever to figure out that the tickets were under the name of the umbrella company AbsolutePunk was a part of at the time but ohhhhhhh wellll.
One time, I said that dusty, guitarist for beloved, almost and dead poetic, ruined all the bands he joined because beloved broke up and dead poetic/the almost got bad after he joined and he responded to me in the thread and was not happy. I felt like such a dick (I was like 17 at the time).
i posted a lot in those. i was a different person back then and didn't know what i was doilooking back now, i'm kinda embarrassed. but i don't think the pics i posted were gross, and i don't think i acted in a gross manner; i probably wasn't using the thread for the same reasons other people were. i was more into fashion, posting mainly actresses and musicians from stuff like magazine photoshoots and red carpet looks. still, i participated, it being a different time isn't really an excuse. i vaguely remember we collectively shooed away anyone who took things too far tho i don't remember this at all
it was one random thing from some thread in like 2007 or 2008 that just stuck out to me because of how embarrassing it was in retrospect.
My favorite dumb/bad AP thread I have ever made was "What animals have you seen?" where we would just list off what animals we have seen in the wild in person (pets and zoo animals didn't count)
That basically how the thread went. Everyone would just say "Squirrel. Bird. Lizard" and that was it lol
Otter, Coyote, Manatee, Stingray, Dolphin, Gator are my only interesting ones. But most of those are just Florida things Other than that yeah squirrel, bird, lizard, deer, opossum, armadillo, raccoon, rabbit, turtle, frog, snake, crab, normal ass fish, ect
