I don't even remember when I started lurking AP, but it was a long time ago. I came from the YCMB and was too afraid to post because everyone was so mean. When the YCMB got nuked I finally made the switch but rarely posted. Something that constantly pops into my head and makes me laugh even though it was pretty fucked up. There was some sort of pumpkin carving contest, I don't recall if it was for AP in general or specifically for Bayside. Someone posted a pic of a regular ass jack-o-lantern with jagged, messed up teeth that they just googled and said it was Anthony Raneri, a couple posts down Raneri just replied "cool".
I joined this website because someone sent me a link and there was a funny comment and I wanted to reply "lol" and I've been on here in some form for like... 11 years now.
My origin story is that I wanted to look up what the best albums of 2013 was, discovered AP, then proceeded to be confused why Trouble Will Find Me was #1. Awful take by peanut-brained teenage me. Anyway I joined cuz I saw some common interests from that year like Save Rock and Roll and the Paramore self-titled and here we are
My origin story is as lame as it gets. In 2003, I had just discovered Anti-Flag and the internet. I think I typed in "fast punk music" and somehow ended up on AP.net. The irony is that AP had already transitioned heavily into early emo/alternative, and 2002 was the year of TAYF. I went from "This Machine Kills Fascists" to "Great Romances of the 20th Century." Thankfully, I was never edgy or rebellious enough for real punk, so I fit right in.
Jesus... so many great lines in here. "this should have been in members only " "Get Richard reins in here, my back is killing me" "-ACA" Bravo to whoever made this. Took the last three days to read this whole 42 page thread. Lots of fun memories in here.
I joined in either 2004 or 2003 (fairly certain it was 04), but I lurked for a long time. Started posting in the Christmas music threads because, as was mentioned like a year ago in here, I understand now that I was deeply, deeply lonely. I had a huge collection of pop/punk Christmas covers so I’d contribute a lot and it felt nice to have people to talk to even if it was just people reaching out to say thank you for a song. Ended up staying and I’m still here and now I’m married with two kids and life is a lot less lonely. I know I mentioned it in some other thread several years ago, but one of my favorite memories was when someone created a thread titled “Meanwhile, in a Parallel Universe” and the first post was a link to a RottenTomatoes forum where Slade was spending his time after having been banned from ap.net, and all the users there were complaining about him. Then they discovered the ap thread and started posting there so it turned into this hilarious back and forth “Yeah, we’re real sorry but he’s your problem now”.
I've been off/on this community with various different usernames since I was 16 years old. I've haven't been here for almost 5 years and haven't a desire to come back until now for some reason.
Didn’t Anberlin name the song “Stranger Ways” after a post on AP? It came from a Morrissey song title generator if I’m remembering right.
