Holy shit, I remember Kazaa and LimeWire well. How did anyone put up with those d/l speeds!?

I think I used Napster, Kazaa, LimeWire and even BearShare lol. Downloading shitty rips of live SOAD songs which, when you finished downloading and hit play, turned out to be Godsmack or some shit lol.

Friend of mine got hit with a £7,000 fine for downloading so many full albums :embarrassed:

I don't remember the first leak I downloaded. It might've been Beggars? Maybe I got one or two beforehand, but I used to have a holier-than-thou attitude towards my friends over piracy vs CDs, so that held me back a bit.

I do remember being excited when one of the Tooth & Nail/Solid State artists I was following would put their full album up on MySpace in the week before the release. Was the way I first heard Come Now Sleep & I don't know how many other albums from that scene.

I got thrown off Napster in that very first wave by Metallica.

    Feels kinda historic now. Haha.

Speaking of limewire. I remember one time my family spend the weekend at my Uncles house with another cousins family. Me and the cousin who didn’t live there spent the entire night downloading Limewire then any song that we felt like listening to onto the uncle who lived there’s computer. My cousin essentially introduced me to the scene that night and showed me bands like TBS, MyChem, the used, underoath, b**** n** and others.

It’s funny in hindsight that we had to go through all that effort back then for one night of listening pleasure but it was so much fun. Also I can only imagine that my uncles computer was royally fucked after that. Good times

I definitely destroyed my uncle’s comp with Bearshare. I stopped being able to use Kazaa/WinMx at home circa 03/04.

I do remember nearly destroying my parents computer trying to torrent a Switchfoot record. It wasn’t even the good one. Smh

My old girlfriend's Mom used Napster to download Christmas music. She was downloading something around the clock.
I used it to download some Matthew Good demos. A day later her mom handed me a cd "I put the songs you downloaded on cd so you can listen in your car."
    It was Christmas music

I started with Kazaa and Limewire

I remember the first thing I tried downloading on Kazaa was a shitty camera recording of Finding Nemo and it took like 2-3 days to download lol

Idr the first music I downloaded from either. Might've been In Too Deep by Sum 41

Oh man the leaked version of Define The Great Line screwed me up for years. Track list was all over the place iirc, with In Regards being basically the only one in the right spot

I definitely started with Napster, but moved over to Gnutella, Morpheous, Kazaa, Limewire, and Audiogalaxy before torrents started existing when I moved to Demonoid, then Oink, then Waffles and What then now Red.

    It's wild
