Man. 14 years on this website and the only old drama I can think of off the top of my head involved pumpkins. And I think that technically happened before I joined.

I was one of the founding members of the music forum general chat thread alongside like @Randall Mentzos and mostly everyone else left

For as long as a version of this particular online community exists, I can’t really imagine myself not being part of it.

Even though I’ve never melded it into other parts of my life quite like others have, & don’t really keep up with people’s personal lives who I love on here. And, even though how I engage goes through different phases. At its best, it’s been really important for me in certain personal ways... and is also just fun, lol.

Plug.DJ is where the old AP soccer thread used to listen to music together. It’s still around if you ever want to do something similar to Turntable.

I always said that anyone who posted as much as a lot of us did probably was going through some shit or was deeply lonely. I feel like a lot of us who don’t post anymore have done well for themselves in the long run. I know I have grown up a ton from those days and I’m not sad and lonely like I was back then.

I definitely remember posting like 90% less when I got a girlfriend in high school lol

To add to that I don’t think that’s a bad thing! We needed that community or whatever.

fell off posting on AP hard after college, came back around towards the end of the site's run/beginning of chorus and have been at least browsing regularly since.

tbh since working from home this is like the most time I've had to fuck around on here in like 10 years

yeah the politics thread here is the only place i can go insane... safely. like i know i wont cringe so hard or face palm myself into a concussion and if i do, others are doing it to in solidarity.

I definitely posted way less when I went to college, but when I moved back home afterwards my posting skyrocketed again. It was definitely loneliness and the feeling of community.

I found AP pretty near the bottom and I think it kept me from getting all the way there. So I second that.

  12. I’m 30 and in a long term relationship with a 9-5 that I like w hobbies and friends that I see/talk to often and I still post here constantly haha. I could never keep up with the chat threads but I can’t ever see myself bailing on the community as long as it’s here. The music discovery aspect remains a super important part of my life and as much as people say this site lacks diversity in that area, y’all really do post a lot of cool shit

Yall act like having an SO means you never stare at your phone mindlessly anymore. We’re rewatching the Sopranos now. I can fuck around on here and still function!
During regular work days I post while I’m sitting at my desk bored out of my mind

thanks to you all. things should be better now that im out of philly. great city, unless you're a recovering addict, then its easily the worst city in the entire world to live in. hurt to end a four year relationship but ultimately we decided to do what is best for my health. it is what it is and im (barely) alive thankfully so nowhere to go but up from here.

Go to some park. Find some kids. Offer to teach them things

Accosting kids in parks: still generally frowned on even for teachers.

They love to yell out to you if they see you in the street though, conversely

I remember i only really posted in album review threads/comments sections on AP.net because I was terrified of getting dunked on everywhere else

I’m actually writing curriculum during the summer. It’s bullshit. So is pandemic teaching.

@sophos34, I'm glad that, when you're not posting here, I still get to see you get politically mad on Twitter.
