I think some band may have used those drawings as album covers or something. Could be imagining this tho
The closest Cane’s is an hour away. Whenever I’m allowed to be in a car with another human being I’m gonna do it. I think about it on a weekly basis and have told countless people about the date. It’s a classic
I miss how forums were back then. I mean it was chaos and a lot of people treating others terribly, but forums in general were a much different beast back then than they are now.
I vaguely remember it was xbrandnewx or something? He did it for months until he was bullied into stop posting.
People were really cruel on AP for a while. It felt like being in a middle school locker room a lot of the time
That being said I met some of my best friends on AP. @cshadows2887 and I finally got to meet for the first time a few months ago after about 10 years of friendship
I think Vinh’s Pink Moon avatar and ceaseless advocacy for it probably got dozens of people to listen to that album who otherwise wouldn’t have.
I spent years lurking because of it. Lotta creepy behavior towards female posters as well Pretty sure that’s also how I got into Nick Drake
I really hated a lot of the cliquey, bullying, dramatic stuff on ap. I definitely got sucked into it occasionally, but it never felt good. I did love turntable though. That’s a purely positive memory. I definitely made everyone listen to some VERY random shit.
Vinh & company ruled. So funny that they let me briefly write for their Sun on the Sand music blog that no longer exists; their weekly recommendation posts would have all these cool, obscure artists, & then I’d be all like, “yeah, I like 90s Christian pop.” Out of that crowd, I miss Todd (kearns or something?) the most. Though that one Troggy or whatever guy was cool, too, ‘cause he shared my love of Selena Gomez (during the Disney Channel days) & the worship singer David Crowder. It’s the ‘09 Brand New (& Subway) chat threads’ fault that I’m here today, talking way too much about Spider-Man all the time.
yes i am back in st louis and not dating her anymore because im a piece of shit who couldnt stop relapsing on heroin in philly
I remember that one of the like 15 different chat sites we used over the years let you play youtube videos for the room. That was a blast to find weird ass videos on. I liked turntable a ton, but my taste in music was never really interesting enough to play anything. It was killer for picking up recommendations though.
