The woman training me at work today just got broken up with by the guy who trained me at work yesterday

Can't believe she admitted it and admitted she was upset about it but then moved on with training with a smile like feelings don't affect her

I would think but sometimes women can be incredibly difficult to read in this regard as I'm sure you're well aware. I just don't want to put myself out there to hear " listen, I think you're a super guy there bud but this just isn't gonna work out"

I'm a pretty passionate person so it would be very hard for me to hide my feelings if I was upset about a breakup

My girlfriend said it was okay but she has terrible taste in movies (and boyfriends) so I imagine it’s shit

Yeah, I get it. After my last breakup I called off the next day. But I dunno, stuff seems to bother me less since then. That one kinda toughened me up lol

 

Based on your responses to my line of questioning and your hesitation to go into too much detail about your situation I've determined that this case is writ large nothing more than a work crush, will not be in your best interest to pursue, and you should move forward. Take my advice or you will be doomed to forever operate in a stage of "will they won't they"

 

Yeah, you live and learn. Last bad breakup I had, I kinda made my sadness her problem and that was not okay, very toxic. I really hope I can do much better next time. It wasn't fair to her when she just needed to move on.

 

here’s some unsolicited advice: if there’s any kind of even slightly significant age gap, even like 5 or 6 years....don’t waste your time. it will most likely end badly. the last person I dated “””seriously””” was 6 years younger and there’s such a monumental valley in life experience and maturity between even a 32yo and a 26yo.

 

You can't take that personal / as an insult though. The reason women are "hard to read" is because there are often consequences of trying to be genuine and honest with a dude who likes them. A lot of guys do NOT take it well and go anywhere from guilt tripping them to being creepy about it to being straight up disrespectful and insulting.

That's the best possible answer she can give you if she isn't into you that way.
