I was on a pallet. The wood underneath was rotting so when I put about a thousand pounds on it it snapped.
Actually the politics of that movie are pretty clearly: drunk driving, getting so mad on the phone you cry, smoking weed, being cuckolded, shooting guns.
I just don’t think it’s any more about how to conduct a revolution than Phantom Thread is about how to make a dress. I wholeheartedly agree with the basic premise that “the children will save us” is a classic cop out (and rolled my eyes when PTA said something to that effect while accepting one of his awards), but also that wasn’t my takeaway from the film. I chose to see its political message - similarly to how i saw secret agent - as being about A) the way that movements/certain histories stay alive and morph, and B) a good depiction of the creeps freaks and weirdos running our police state. Nailed it right down to the psychosexual hang-ups. Other than that, a very fun and incredibly well-made caper flick.
Has anyone seen a consistent ceremony run time total? My stopwatch said 222 minutes, Wiki says 225 minutes. In my Oscars pool tiebreaker, two of the people tied for second in points said 222 minutes and 224 minutes. I'm tempted to just go with what my stopwatch said.
I liked the show. I liked who won, though, I admittedly did not see a lot of the movies.... But a lot of talk of TWBB as being the best movie, etc.... and I looked at the last 25 years of best picture winners, and well... a lot of them I Didnt see. I know most of them though, and could watch a lot of them at some point.... Then I asked for a list of the 90's Best picture winners: 1990s Best Picture Winners 1990: Dances with Wolves 1991: The Silence of the Lambs 1992: Unforgiven 1993: Schindler's List 1994: Forrest Gump 1995: Braveheart 1996: The English Patient 1997: Titanic 1998: Shakespeare in Love 1999: American Beauty And most of those I've seen multiple times. I connect with a lot of those, and maybe the timing was there because I was aatching more movies in my life, but within the last 25 years, I dont know if any of the best pictures winners, if on TV, would I sit and watch, and with most of those above, I would.
My last take is that the acceptance speech for K-Pop Demon Hunter's banger, "Golden" makes me hate Asian Americans. Very rude of them to cut off that Korean guy tho.
