Yeah - IWJAA in particular is insanely good, can't believe Sentimental Value won over it

 

Cool wins for horror, at least

Favorite BP win for me since Moonlight, maybe even better

 

I look forward to the movie podcasts I listen to not having Oscars discussions for at least two weeks after this before they just go back into blind speculation.

We were relatively light on the golden derby/odds/favorites talk this year in here thank god. My least favorite type of discourse aside from the fake outrage nonsense

 

yeah can't remember the last time i liked a BP winner this much, probably going back to no country

Can I be bold and say this is my favorite Best Picture since Silence of the Lambs?

 

Tim's gonna win for something so dumb now. It’s going to make the revenant look like citizen kane.

 

Awards punditry makes me want to die. It’s an automatic time skip for me every time.

Since 2000 maybe only no country and moonlight above this for best picture winners? And they might not even be above one battle.

 

No Country is a fine movie. If it were There Will Be Blood that year the discussion would be over

fairly certain DOR's career went down the tubes after amsterdam flopped

 

Plenty of surprises for me, but overall a good and deserving list for the roles they played (personal controversies aside).

 

I know we had this discussion a bunch but the waves for last great BP become so much choppier as soon as you hit the early 90s. And then (I haven’t seen Kramer v Kramer but) every movie that won in the 70s is a classic

 

There will be blood is great but no country is more than just fine. It is a fantastic movie.
