Crazy that Sinners got 16 noms. Will it hold the record for most losses at the Oscars too? I don't see it winning most of what it was nominated for. Maybe screenplay and score?

  3. It Was Just An Accident didn’t pick up the steam it would’ve needed to for me to expect anything outside of Int’l Film, but it certainly deserves more

Zero nods to No Other Choice stinks

Sinners will come away with maybe 1 or 2 but the nominations alone are huge.

Poptimism is good when it is my favorite genre (horror)

Not ready to count Sinners out for some big wins after that show of strength in the nominations today.

    Still need to see:

    No Other Choice
    Resurrection
    F1 (I guess)
    Sentimental Value
    Hamnet
    Secret Agent
    Sirat

I at least expected a best editing or international film nom to go to No Other Choice. weird it got snubbed. feels like a great companion piece to Bong Joon Ho's Parasite.

still really want to see Sirat. I think I will pass on Voice of Hind Rajab- I think it would destroy me.

No Other Choice might have been overall my favorite movie that I saw in 2025. is there a cutoff that it maybe missed for consideration?

I think Train Dreams has a good shot at winning cinematography

didn't expect any noms for Resurrection (it's very much an arthouse film) but it was easily my favorite of last year. would've been nice seeing it for cinematography, though I know there was little chance of that ever happening. still, an absolute masterpiece that I'm desperate to rewatch.

What was the year that the BP winner stopped making ripples in the zeitgeist? I don't mean picking a bad movie (Crash), I mean like the majority of the public does not know what the fuck that movie is. I was in 8th grade when Crash won and we watched it as a family when it came out on DVD. We had the Slumdog Millionaire DVD in my college apartment for some reason.

The King's Speech? The Artist? I feel like people saw The Artist though. It was definitely over by the time Nomadland and CODA won.

  17. No chance he wins, but Ethan Hawke for Actor is great. Dude is simply doing the most for 100 minutes

Speaking of doing the most, I know Chase Infiniti (or lack of) is the big shock for Actress, but I am also a little surprised Jennifer Lawrence didn’t turn up

  18. I don’t think it’s a dead and over thing. It wanes over time. Oppenheimer winning was definitely a culturally zeitgeisty thing.

If anything he's gonna double down and do more dramatic roles until eventually he will get nominated!

F1 for best picture but no It Was Just An Accident smdh.

    Director fine. Actor is good.

    Kate Hudson????

Delroy! Love that. Skarsgards nom is even worse than Culkins. He was literally a main character.

Igna and Elle is great to see. Wunmi too.

Screenplay is fine. Casting is good.

Score good. Sound good. Editing pretty good. Cinematography okay

Yeah maybe Nomadland and CODA are COVID anomalies and we are bouncing back from it.

Streaming also doesn’t help. Regular people aren’t gonna seek out the best picture winner anymore when they can just watch whatever slop Netflix puts out.

Highlight for me is Delroy Lindo getting nominated for Sinners.. long overdue, he should of got nominated for Da 5 Bloods a few years back but I am happy he's finally getting his due
