I am starting to think there’s gonna be a best picture/best director split between Sinners/One Battle
Watched F1 last night and I can’t think of many other movies that were so flagrantly made in a lab just to promote a separate product

Need to catch up on Sentimental Value and The Secret Agent before Oscars day, but of the others: 1. Sinners 2. One Battle After Another 3. Marty Supreme BIG GAP 4. F1 5. Bugonia BIG GAP 6. Frankenstein 7. Train Dreams 8. Hamnet Very genuinely hated Hamnet, and very glad it has not made the Best Picture run some people expected coming out of the Globes.
Sentimental Value was very, very good and worthy of all its praise, but only really stands a chance in the Intl. Feature and Supporting Actor category which i more and more think is going to go to Penn anyway. I think Supporting Actress will go to Amy. Curious about the Hamnet hate though lol
The Secret Agent Marty Supreme OBAA Sentimental Value Train Dreams Hamnet Bugonia Frankenstein Sinners F1
I feel like expanding the Best Picture category to more than five films has not aged well. I have ZERO desire to ever watch F1 and/or Frankenstein. It’s cool that there are some international films also nominated here, but isn’t that the point of having a category specifically for International films?
It was an overreaction during a time of a different academy but most years I’d say there are more than 5 worthy films. Ultimately they should go back to the flex where they can choose between 5-10 depending on the year
Outside of Eddington and It Was Just An Accident what other major release was snubbed from BP? Weapons is a better film than Sinners. I’ve heard The Mastermind is good.
28 years later. No other choice. Testament of Ann Lee. The shrouds. not that they all had any chance to get a nom but feel like snubs. also lol wicked for good almost certainly feels snubbed even though it deserved to get blanked
