Ya both are great movies! People are weird

Also new categories have been added such as best casting. The 16 Oscar noms would have been a record set by any of the movies that had been nominated for 15 if that one existed.

I do think sinners is moderately overrated while still being very good. I know dude got yelled at for saying something similar in the thread but for all that was made about it being on film and premium formats it does just look like a MCU movie at times

They said “Marvel coded”, which is a bit different than looking like a Marvel flick

Don’t think I understand the MCU comparison but agree that Sinners is a bit overrated. I did like it, but less as I sat with it. Watching a second time didn’t really change my thoughts (the bottom line, at least)

 

Sinners is a five-star classic for me. Fucking loved that movie. Favorite moviegoing experience I’ve had since at least pre-COVID.

 

I think so yeah - there’s a difference between it having like the gradient of a marvel movie vs. it having writing and character beats of one, which seemed to be what they were implying
