BlackkKlansman will probably win. The only other two movies I’ve seen on the list are Vice and Black Panther and I personally wouldn’t have nominated either.
How was Won't You Be My Neighbor not nominated for best documentary? Nothing for Eighth Grade? Hereditary? At least Spider-Verse got a best animated feature nod I guess...
I have a feeling Roma's going to win Picture, honestly, but it could go a few different ways this year.
The only things I want is for Infinity War to win best visual effects and Christian Bale to win best actor.
Agreed. Only ones I would have even considered that are on there is The Favourite and A Star Is Born. Klansman and Bohemian Rhapsody were fine, but not best picture worthy
Black Panther for Best Costume Avengers: Infinity War for Best Visuals Into the Spider-Verse for Best Animated Feature This would satisfy me to the limit that I could ever possibly be satisfied by the Academy Awards.
So, they basically took the Best Drama and Best Comedy/Musical noms from the Globes, took out Crazy Rich Asians, If Beale Street Could Talk, and Mary Poppins, and added Roma. Except for Roma, I don't really want to see any of the BP noms I haven't already seen.
It's worth watching, but it's not anything spectacular. All around well acted and well paced, but the constant fourth-wall breaks were really obnoxious.
I don't get complaining about award shows they always make weird dumb decisions how are people surprised Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody being problematic aside obviously , I just can't imagine getting mad it doesn't matter except for Shallow winning best song
super annoyed by this snub. and I personally think First Man deserves way more than it's been getting.
I’ve barely seen any movies this year but stoked First Reformed at least for screenplay (Hawke should’ve been nominated). Still need to see the Favorite but I like seeing Lanthimos getting best Director.
He was previously nominated for screenplay (Do The Right Thing), documentary (4 Little Girls) and received an honorary Oscar in 2016.
weak best picture list and list overall, really. very few surprises, though i'm very happy for that first reformed screenplay nod even if ethan hawke got majorly robbed (fucking viggo).
They’ve been doing better at throwing curveball noms and wins lately, and I was hoping that like last year keeping James Franco away after backlash BoRhap and Green Book would have the same fate. Most of my issues with the list could be solved by replacing everything they got with better snubbed films.
