Okay no im a little drunk. My roommate put a movie on Hulu lol

 

This absolutely says as much about America as a whole right now as it does Hollywood. Like come on. I know that’s always true of these awards to some degree, but this is just too much.

 

This is the darkest timeline.

 

That Justin Chang piece from the LA Time made a good point about how this could also be due to the weird defensiveness that fans of Green Book have about it. Like that made the people who liked it dig in their heels and push it over the edge.

 

It sucks that on a night that had some great moments like Alfonso Cuarón winning both Best Director and Cinematography, Olivia Colman with a surprise Best Actress win, Black Panther getting 3 awards, and Spike Lee walking away with an Oscar, the lasting memory of this night will be that Green Book won Best Picture and Bohemian Rhapsody won the most awards on the night with 4. What a shame.
