I honestly don’t care who volunteered for what, nor do I care that they’ll edit in the speeches later. This is stupid and the fact that they’d never do this for any of the acting awards, or for Best Director, just goes to show that they value certain categories over others. I would’ve been angry as hell last year if Deakins had finally won his Oscar offscreen during a commercial and then had to be edited back into the show later. It’s just ridiculous.

Again, leave the show the way it was. Shortening the runtime isn’t going to increase the ratings or convince people to watch the show who weren’t going to, it’s only going to turn off the people who already actually do want to see the show.

The Academy tends to overlook horror films

And yet the Academy is supposedly concerned about a bloated runtime. Give me a fucking break.

That sounds like they took the wrong message from the outcry about best original songs not being performed.

It’s strictly about enticing people to watch

Yeah. They're not thinking about regular Oscar viewers, people who generally watch it anyway. They're thinking about people who don't watch it. They're fucking up every step of the way, but none of this is about retaining us as viewers.

Bohemian Rapsody was the 7th highest grossing movie of last year. Black Panther was 2nd. There’s a reason they wanted a Best popular film category. To bring in the viewers. The highest rated telecast was in 1998 when Titanic was a behemoth at the box office.
