Oscars: Most of the Best Song Nominees Won’t Perform on Telecast (EXCLUSIVE) aaaand the awards get weirder
Shallow will win, it’s probably not even going to be a close race either. Anyway, this is what happens when everyone is always complaining about the length of the ceremony. They make cuts for time. Really mad Tim Blake Nelson won’t be performing.
Did anybody watch Cold War? Trying to decide if I’ll make my viewing of Shoplifters a double feature today to catch both.
It’s good/okay, definitely incredible cinematography. It’s not long, though, so you could definitely fit it in. Shoplifters is incredible. Wish I could see that for the first time again.
Ended up watching Cold War and really enjoyed it. Doing Shoplifters tomorrow and I’m super excited about that one, been trying to see it for a second now.
Not related to movies obviously but man, Atlanta just can’t seem to win anything, can it. Just lost the SAG ensemble award.
Watched The Favourite last night and DAMN. Definitely my favorite of the eight Best Picture nominees.
Also going to rewatch Black Panther and Blackkklansman before the ceremony. Wasn't a huge fan of either but I feel like revisiting them might be worth it. Admittedly I watched Black Panther immediately after watching Ready Player One in a double header, which I really didn't like and I feel like it affected my mood.
I would say Rami is the frontrunner now but SAG isn’t a 100% guarantee. It was just two years ago that SAG gave the award to Denzel for Fences and then the Oscar went to Casey Affleck, after all. But it is more likely now.
A lot of that reminded me of when some YouTube critics will take an already kind of awkward exchange in a bad movie and edit/grossly over exaggerate it for comedic effect, but that's just how it was in the movie
Academy Award nominee for Best Film Editing, everyone. No but for real I think the Editors branch has, like, gotten it into their heads that people see Best Film Editing as a Best Picture indicator and have just started nominating the films they want to be contenders for Best Picture, rather than those that actually deserve it. How else can Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody getting in there be explained over something like Mission: Impossible - Fallout or First Man. Or Three Billboards getting nominated last year.
