If Spider-verse doesn't win best animated.....

 

I feel like A Star is Born is a lock to win Best Picture, to be honest. I can't think of another movie with as much universal momentum into the season other than Roma.

 

The favourite continues to pick up steam every day. Really think that’s the dark horse here.

 

I would much rather have The Favourite over A Star Is Born if those are my only choices.

 

I haven't seen it, but A Star is Born looked so Oscar-bait-y, are they actually falling for it? The Favourite may be a period drama, but at least it's weird.

 

Compared to last year’s crop of good movies, this seems like an off year. Wouldn’t be surprised if A Star Is Born wins big due to critical acclaim and box office numbers

 

I think we have a tremendous amount of great films this year, but not as many traditionally Oscar-friendly ones.

 

If I had to guess these would be my oscar nom predictions for Best Picture:

A Star Is Born
Roma
The Favourite
BlacKkKlansman
Green Book
If Beale Street Could Talk
Black Panther
Vice
First Man

Ranked from most likely to least, really hope First Man at least gets a nom.

 

Is A Star is Born gonna start getting the La La Land treatment already? (genuinely great movie that everyone randomly starts shitting on)

A Star Is Born was great but nowhere near the top of my list this year. None of my true favorites have any real chance though, except for The Favourite. I still need to see a bunch of stuff as well, although most of my unwatched list is still unlikely to win these kinds of awards.

La La Land was terrible though, so I can’t comment on the rest of that thought.

 

Louis C.K. is gonna step in to host I bet at this point

Honestly as much as I do still care about these silly awards despite knowing how little they really mean, I have very little interest in watching the broadcast this year. If Kevin Hart comes back that will change to a definite no.

 

oh good, a gay woman publicly absolved him of his anti-gay hate speech so now every right wing fuck ever can point to that as a cause for universal forgiveness

 

If they won't allow Weird Al to perform the Super Bowl halftime show, let him host the Oscars.
