Was counting on GDT to win this one

 

Happy for GDT, but that's far and away the worst one/movie

 

generally very against lifetime achievement awards in these categories, and that went for scorcese too

 

I thought there was a chance they'd give it to Nolan near the end but the odds were always in GDT's favor

 

I loved TSOW so I'm not complaining

 

Didn’t love shape of water, but happy for GdT. Super talented guy.

 

I also very much enjoyed The Shape of Water, I just personally enjoyed the other four more.

 

I love all five of these directors and films, but yeah, Guillermo's my least favorite of the crop if we're talking strictly about the five nominated films.

what movie would nolan have possibly won best director for before this? GDT deserved it for pan's but the academy awarded another lifetime achievement best director incorrectly to scorcese.

PTA not winning anything really in his career is the problem with the oscars in a nutshell. Don't forget the greatest director of all time never won.
