why? for playing the same song for 40 years in a row?

 

They just have this need to throw tech awards to war films, historically.

 

The sound design for Dunkirk was incredible tho. I had picked Baby Driver for Sound Editing but Dunkirk was a close second.

Dunkirk was for sure worthy of Sound Editing, even if Blade Runner was the more interesting choice, but Nolan's films are usually not mixed well. Dunkirk was mixed way better than something like Interstellar, which was one of the most poorly mixed films I've seen, but Mixing should've gone to Blade Runner or Baby Driver.

 

I'm not going to pretend that I know what the fuck sound mixing and editing are

 

Dunkirk was the first movie I saw in IMAX and the sound alone was worth the extra money for the ticket

 

Wild that Phantom Thread wasn't nominated for those sound awards, but they also didn't nominate Krieps so maybe not

 

Same as music. They do the levels and capture the tones and sounds that you hear in the movies.

Yeah Phantom Thread should've been in Sound Editing and Krieps should've been in Best Actress for sure.

I picked Blade Runner on the Chorus pool but then when I posted my picks on Facebook I changed it to The Shape of Water. I knew I should've changed it on here too. Never go with your heart when making Oscar picks.
