Plummer was fine in that movie, but I thought the nomination was more of a pat on the back that Hollywood gave itself for addressing the #metoo stuff in real time.
I worked on American Idol a while back. Seacrest was always pleasant, shame to discover it was all an act. Keep weeding out the creeps folks.
I think it’s more of how they reshot a good portion of the movie last minute in a brief amount of time and he still put out an exceptional performance. Though, it’s not a great movie, Plummer and Michelle Williams were the only stand outs. Plus being such an esteemed veteran actor and former winner played into the nomination. Was there a more deserving performance out there? Sure, like Michael Stuhlbarg in CMBYN.
